Title: Pop Ups!

Jaco927 - January 12, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
 Has anyone else been getting mad pop up ads on the website lately? It seems like it is just out of hand for me. Whenever I click on a new page on the forum BAM! A new pop up. Anyone else having problems with this!?

It's driving me crazy!

Sorry to hear your having problems viewing the site. If you are visiting us through the '.tk' address, I.e. http://www.ddntforums.tk they use a pop-up as a way of advertising, that is if it's a .tk pop-up?? In which case I suggest you visit the forum through the main url -- http://www.invisionfree.com/forums/ddnt.

I use a pop-up blocker so it doesn't affect me, maybe it would be best for you!. Please tell us if you are still continually having problems meanwhile, I hope it won't put you off visiting the Forum.

I used to get that Problem to hun,
you have to use the invisionfree URL, i know its a pain to remember so just add it to your favorites/bookmark it so it s quick link...also i use a pop-up ad blocker too...i dont get any ad's anymore...and havent had for a while.

Good Luck.

Yup, use the IF URL. We don't get pop-ups through the regular URL, just banner ads. :D

Problem Solved?

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but--- I access the forum through http://www.invisionfree.com/forums/ddnt, I have a pop-up blocker installed (which works on every other site I'm on) but yet I still get tons of pop-ups.

Harry Potter - January 17, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
Kate, please could you be a little more specific about the pop-up's -- i.e are they just general, or a .tk add?. You see, the only other thing I would suggest is you check your browser settings, it seems that with some people it's becoming a real problem.

The board host Invisionfree doesn't use pop-up ad's, and other than the sub-domain (tk) there should be no reason why pop-up's appear. If it is still becoming a real issue, I or someone could get in touch with IF and see what they suggest?? sorry for people who are having trouble viewing the forum :(

Can you take a screenshot?

Oddly enough it hasn't happened in the last couple of days. I'll let you know if I have the problem again though and thanks! :)

Hi Adam

Once again, sorry to hear your having trouble viewing the forums properly.. pop-ups drive me up the wall too ....grrrr..... I'm not sure if you read my earlier post (first response back) I suggested that a pop-up blocker would be a good idea, I still stand by that!

I'm not a 100% sure why your getting pop-up's when your visiting through the main URL (as I said before) the forum host (Invisionfree) does not use pop-up advertisements.

Jaco, do you get a lot of pop-ups on numerous websites? Your computer may be infected with adware and/or spyware.

Do you use any spyware-removal programs?

Adam & Kate

If your still having problems, than for a good pop-up killer that is free and easy to use, then I recommend 'POW''!.

You have 2 windows, the bottom window tells you what is currently on your screen, eg. at the moment "pow" is telling me that I am "quoting bye bye adds", it will also tell you what pop-ups are currently on your screen. All you then do, is double click the add's name in the bottom window, it will then be moved to the top window and the add will disappear from your screen. Anytime that add tries to pop-up again, pow will remove it.

POW!
