A_Jax91 - May 31, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
OMG IT FINALLY GOT HERE! I have just recieved one of 200 real working light sabers!!!
It got here around 7 today. My mom took a picture of me with it earlier! The color is Cyan, and it is 3-4 feet long (I'll have to read the pedestal engraving to know exactly)
Well without further ado, here's the picture!!

If I did trick you then I enjoyed taking advantage of your gullibility

Of course you could just fill a flourecent tube with gasoline, like a young couple did a little over a week ago.
It should be noted that the two of them were in intensive care the last time I heard.

lol. I heard about that couple on the Hard Rock station I listen to. They were listed as DumbA** of the Day ^_^
And that plasma saber sounds cool. buuuuuuuuttttttt.......... Plasma is hot stuff [it IS the stuff they use to cut through bank vaults, after all] so IDK how sane an idea a PlasmaSaber would be

Better than a high energy plasma hair dryer. ;)

Lol, I heard about those guys, they got that stuff from inside the tube all over em and it messed em up BAD. Oh well, mine isn't nearly that dangerous, it's plastic lol, I took advantage of a recently discovered special effect (lightsaber effect) to see how many people I could trick lol.

lol. It's a great job! Bit of advise though..... you can still see whatever it was you used as the BladeGuide....
That's what tipped me off.
That, and my knowledge of Tech and Physics ^_^

Judging by the look on your face, you really need to get some sleep.

Hey, post a pic of you holding the lightsaber without the effects. I'll give you a step by step tutorial on how to make a real wicked looking saber effect for Photoshop. Even if you're not using Photoshop, I'm sure someone could benefit from the tutorial.

I know how to do it the hard way, unfortunately it takes forever lol. But ok here's a pic:

Okay, the first thing I did when I opened the picture in Photoshop was go to:
Image > Adjustments > Auto Levels
This gave the picture a better color scheme. Although this step is entirely unimportant in making a lightsaber, it helps the picture look a little bit nicer.
Next I made a new layer for the actual effect so as not to screw-up the original picture. I then used the Polygonal Lasso tool to select where the core of the lightsaber was going to be.
http://img19.echo.cx/img19/3046/2core5mr.jpgI gave the top a slight tip to it as is seen in the movies. Then I went to:
Filter > Blur > Blur More
This of course softens the jagged edges a bit. Press 'Ctrl+F' a couple times to repeat the last filter effect which in this case is the Blur More. It should only need about one or two repeats until it looks like this:
http://img19.echo.cx/img19/3046/2core5mr.jpgNow there is a button on the bottom left side of the Layers window that is a circle with a fancy "f" in it. Click this and there will be a pop-up window. Go up to 'Outer Glow'. This is shown as step one in this picture:
http://img48.echo.cx/img48/1195/filterinstructions5mt.jpgNow there should be a large window that opens up. In the box with only one solid color, click the color and a color picker window should come up. This is step two in that picture.
Change the numbers to the desired color where 255 is 100% and 0 is 0%. In this case I just made a generic goodguy solid green of 255. This is shown as step three.
Click 'Okay' and the picture in the background should have a very fine green line around the main white core. Change the blending option from 'Screen' to 'Normal' at the top of the window. THIS IS A MUST! Otherwise, it looks too transparent. Fiddle around with the 'Size' and 'Spread' sliders until it looks like this:
http://img19.echo.cx/img19/5024/3beam7ni.jpgPretty simple actually. Not too many steps, and once you get used to the Filters window everything goes by really quick. As a touch-up effect, I added a bit of green lighting to the face as to attempt to make it believable. So the final picture is here:
