My friends and I are going to be doing a car for this, and we'll be running it [and hopefully not getting ourselves killed in the process]. I'll post more as I know it.
Also, if come racetime anyone wants to watch who's in NorCal, I'll shoot you which track we'll be at.

Ha ha ha, I read about this in Car and Driver. I love it! :D My understanding is that you have to get a car for $500 or less (excluding some minor modifications that I can't quite seem to remember...), and if you do bad, they'll do humiliating stuff to your car, like beat it up or tack weird things on it. :P

The car must total $500 or less, excluding tires, guzzolene, and safety modifications [racing harness, fire extinguisher, roll bar, etc etc etc]
As for the humiliation, it starts in qualifying! I'm personally looking forward to the "Rodthrowapalooza".
I actually went down to one of the auto salvage yards in Sac today, and saw a few candidates. One was a fairly nice '80's Nissan 300ZX for $500, but I might be able to talk them down from that. The interior was unholy [The Power of Christ did NOT compel that car!], but it'd be torn out anyway for weight concerns. Also for a nifty bucket seat.
Still just lookin, since the race isn't till October.

Whats odd, is that I had a dream that I was there, but they didn't really do anything, except for hang out. Then someone made a short gag-comic of loremaster, and some guys testing something out, only to have it crash and burn.
