Chex Quest: Project Z
It is my new GZDoom MOD. I have been putting work into it.
---------------------------------------------------
STORY: Many years ago, long before the Flemoids had evolved from Porridgos, A strange meteorite crashed into the planet of Kadil. It exploded on impact, sending rubble everywhere. Those who surrvived that were sure to be taken by the folllowing battle. Eventually, a group of Chexonians took down the unknown creature and captured him in ice. Thousands of years later, modern day Chexonian Scientists took it to their IFC Labratory on Ralston, to analise it.
--------------Period of 7 months----------------
You, Fred Chexter, the Chex Warrior and patriotic Chexonian, have just got an urgent call from the president. He wants you to get to IFC Command. FAST. But first he wants you to go to 123 Porridgo lane- The Flemoids invaded there. Luckily they have no need for the surrounding areas, but you wonder why... It's almost as if they're... being MIND CONTROLLED...

RELEASE 1!
Contains everything you need to play CQPZ.
You do not need doom2.wad, but if you want little to no complications you must find FreeDoom2 or buy DooM 2 yourself. It works with out it if you use chexiwad.wad.

atariangamer - December 27, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
I see you are making progress. Nice pics, what were they made in?

Replica - December 28, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
He said paint ;)

atariangamer - December 28, 2007 05:03 AM (GMT)
 paint? you did that in PAINT? I couldn't do that in Photoshop, with a guide! Uber sweet job, any ingame shots...or just art?

ZorchDude - December 28, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)
I have been working on a level, but it is all borked when I play it so the screenshots won't be right.
I'm glad you like my work! ;)
EDIT: Yes, I did all of it in Paint with the medium brush tool over other layers of brushing.
I'm guest starring some members of the fourm in secret areas. I'm going to work on RedBicedipus first (Even though he didn't ask :P )

atariangamer - December 29, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
well, red is easy. You probably need to know about scripted marines. This might help you with these people, plus the friendly hydrak. But red could be a marine with a biped skin set to red color. It works good.

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 09:54 AM (GMT)
Probably. But I wanted to give him the Fattanoid attacks from CQ32.0. He is, after all, a boss.

atariangamer - December 29, 2007 12:35 PM (GMT)
well, the fattnoid replaces the doom 2 mancubus. Its a 3 fireball attack.

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)
I know that, I'm using Decorate.
I don't need to replace the Mancubus :P

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 01:26 PM (GMT)
Screenshots added!
NOTE: Due to how the level is laid out, it is possible to get the Yellow and Red keys before the Blue key. (And the Mon key :P )

EDIT: Minor fix.
EDIT (Again): Yet another fix.
EDIT: AGAIN. Forgot FMOD.dll.

atariangamer - December 29, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
OOOHH! Nice Screens! Downloading now...

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
Thank you, Atari.
Chex Veterans, please play my level and give me constructive criticisim!

atariangamer - December 29, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
Umm...sorry, but...you forgot fmod.dll! GZDoom wont run without!
(I have fmod.dll, but someone else might not...)

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
Agh! I forgot! Sorry, will upload now...

atariangamer - December 29, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Well, I get first review, since most "veterans" logon later.

I like it. Its a new kind of style, Which almost has a classic feel to it. You need to think about textures, and aligning them. That was very short, the level ended when I tried to open the door outside. I couldn't find the red key at all. I think something happened to one of the flemoids, in the room with the 2 doors and the blue door. It looked like a biped, but shot a ball. This went very slow, and always landed at his feet, not at me. Hmm, overall a good game, just keep going with it!

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
Actually, I reprogrammed the Flemoids. They look so much better that way.
But it always landed at his feet? I must double the speed.
Do you want me to upload faster version or is this better?
You have to open the switch indoors and get back to the door. Is it too short?
The red key was too well hidden, I guess.
I do know about Texture Alligning, but some looked better without. I did it where I could.
EDIT: Update! See second post.

slimeinator - December 29, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
"The secret level is out of order. Please come back at a later date." :o Out of order!? Oh, well. I agree. The level is too short. But, it's a pretty good concept.

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
It's the first level, it's meant to be easy.
Yes, out of order.
Thank you. :)

atariangamer - December 29, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm trying to figure out the labrynth in IJ Fate of atlantis right now, but the switch didn't open the door in my version, and when I tried to open it with use, it quit. But your saying that all flemoids shoot a slime ball now? And yes, take a look at your level with the biped, but back away when he shoots, and it lands at his feet.

ZorchDude - December 29, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
Yes, all exept the Larva and Cyclopitis.
The smaller one's slime balls are affected by gravity. It's on purpose. I uploaded a faster slime ball version, so it works like I wanted it to.
Turning the switch makes opening the door finish the level. Beyond the door is the base of MAP02, just waiting to be made by me...

Replica - December 29, 2007 10:02 PM (GMT)
When i played i found theese things below.

1. No textures aligned.
2. Random textures. Their are some random textures, May change when aligned though.
3. No "Lower unpegged" tag on the doors. Thats what gives thye side of the door the weird movement, were it should be stational.
4. I like the fact that you used the Decorations in very well places. Mostly the lights.

Well thats about it. Overall a short but fun level :approve:

ZorchDude - December 30, 2007 10:14 AM (GMT)
What?
-If you had seen the level before, it looked all non-alligned. I moved most of the textures to PERFECTLY blend in. And some of them were secrets. Did you rub up at them?
-Random? My choice is what I want.
-I used quite a few LOWER UNPEGGED tags, but it seems I missed some. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go!
-Thank you for the compliments.
I release a beta per level. I give out patches if there's a bugfix.

atariangamer - December 30, 2007 01:10 PM (GMT)
Question: Whats your map builder?
Question: Do you draw out your level, then map?
Question: How long does it take you to make a map like the one you just did?

I can predict the future this way!

ZorchDude - December 30, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
1: Doom Builder.
2: No. I usally come up with ideas during my 'Happy' time. And no, my happy time isn't something rude. I've got Asperger's syndrome.
3: That one took about half a month, but for longer ones it takes a month. And it takes ages for me to perfect it to every little detail.
