Title: The Hydraks
Description: To be seen in Chex Quest: Project Z!
ZorchDude - December 22, 2007 11:36 AM (GMT)

Bio: The Hydraks are a diverse species. They are all very intelligent, building an electronic empire on their home planet of Kadil. They have been the secret behind the Flemoid's technological advances, but have not wished to go further. Until now...
When Project Z escaped from crystalisation, he went to the planet he knew best- his home planet, Kadil- A conflict was inevitable. Most of the creatures had turned to the dark side by having their light sucked out of them by the hungry beast, but a single Hydraks, called Noah (Brown with blue eyes), escaped, and reported the absolute terror to the Federation of Cereals, who partnered him with the Chex Warrior we all love. That sets into play the plot of Chex Quest: Project Z!
Fun facts I couldn't fit in there: Zorch is lethal to Shadow Hydraks (Black with red eyes), and Project Z likes black holes.

Hey! Thats pretty good! I was kinda thinking Chex Quest might could use another species other than a flemoid. Thats really good drawing too. How does it look in the game? I'm sure its playing a part of a scripted marine in ZDooM, right? OR, did you find a way to make NPC allies in other source ports?
ZorchDude - December 22, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
Actually, most of them are evil.
But the good one will be a monster that chases the player, but doesn't have any attacks.
And I haven't put them in game yet because I just made them 'bout an hour ago and I just had breakfast.
EDIT: Yes, I'm using GZDoom. Water and platforms goooooooooood.....

It kind of reminds me of Strife's salt and pepper shakers.... Anyway, I noticed that the yellow version lacks any teeth. Is this deliberate?
slimeinator - December 22, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Amazing! :D Great ideas, you have there. Might I remind you that Zorchers actually can be fatal. In the cutscene of the first game, they had tuned their zorchers to the frequency of their teleporters, suggesting that before they were fatal.
ZorchDude - December 22, 2007 06:07 PM (GMT)
Manny Cav: The "yellow" version is actually brown. And yes, Noah lacks teeth for he is only three lightyears old.
Slimeinator: I had gotten that impression too. I was roughly only one year old when it was released, though. I'm glad YouTube has the intro. But the zorchers are only now fatal to them, before the frequency change it just gave shadow ones electric shocks.
TO ANYONE: I need help drawing zorch on top of new Flemoids and Hardaks!

You mean the "HIT" sprites? Just open chexquest.wad with xwe, and look how Chucher did it.

Ha ha ha, you are aware that light-years are a measure of length, not time? :P

Well, Chuck has photoshop. Transparency. Layers. That makes it EASY. Me? Mspaint. Overactive imagination. Lack of persistance. Gets bored easily.
I'm working on the Flemoidus Blobui now! I also have an idea for Flemoidus Diablo.
Manny Cav - December 22, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
Well, GIMP is a good, free alternative to Photoshop if you really need a better graphics editing program.
ZorchDude - December 22, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
I'm renaming them Hydraks.
GIMP is confusing. I don't know how to work it.
And on the subject of lightyears, I know. It's apparently a measure of time regarding the Hydraks.
Manny Cav - December 22, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
I'm not a real avid user of either, but I can almost guarantee you that Photoshop is 5 times as complicated as GIMP. Or something like that....
ZorchDude - December 22, 2007 11:07 PM (GMT)
Ach, forget it. I still want another person to do the zorch.
FLEMOIDUS BLOBUI:

Bio: The Flemoidus Blobui is one of the simplest, yet one of the most dangerous flemoids there is. Spitting out lots of Slimui (Plural of Slimus) it seems obvious it is a replacement of the Pain Elemental. :P
atariangamer - December 23, 2007 09:57 PM (GMT)
alright then, whats a slimus look like? (its a lost soul isn't it?)
Just a small blobule with eyes?
ZorchDude - December 23, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
It is, basicly. I'm still working on it though.
