Title: Today Was The Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party

Richie - December 17, 2007 03:07 AM (GMT)
Today was the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. Let's take a moment to honor the sparkers of the American Revolution.

Manny Cav - December 17, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
That's tea that can make and shape a country, and spark freedom. The most valuable tea ever.

Richie - December 17, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
I've often wondered whether Boston Harbor was really basically a giant lake of tea. I mean... they must've thrown a LOT of tea overboard. I wonder what effects that had on the water. It's just tea (which is a plant), but on the other hand, it probably clouded the water. Imagine how awesome that must've been to witness.

The harbor is still recovering from that act, actually. It's pretty interesting, I must confess. Took some guts to do that.

Over 200 years and it's still a mess over it?

rushnerd - December 17, 2007 08:19 AM (GMT)
Poor Native Americans :(

atariangamer - December 17, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
Heh, native americans... but he's right. Everyone thought they were indians because of their dress.
Thats really cool,

December 16, 1773 (i'm studying history now)

Allen Walker - December 17, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
While I myself am not very patriotic (or patrioctic at all) but i admit that this was some act. I always saw myself drinking the lake. :P

Kuwabara - December 17, 2007 02:52 PM (GMT)
It would be awesome to drink from the lake at that time.

@ataringamer: No, Columbus thought they were Indian because his destination was India. (He wanted a fast India-Spain trade route)

Loremaster - December 17, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
Ugh, cold tea. I hate cold tea.

atariangamer - December 17, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
kuwabara...Columbus came and found the west indies in 1492. The indians...OH! sorry, I mean Native Americans, edit out the indians and put in native americans.

But yeah, I hate cold tea. Its got to be hot, fresh brewed sweet tea.

but it wasn't a lake, it was a harbor into the ocean. right?

Firstly, I've got enough Cherokee in me to apply [successfully] for tribal citizenship [I don't, because I don't really think I would add anything to the Cherokee Nation], and I don't mind the term Indian. I'm quite glad to be called a Redskin or a Savage [though I think that last one is mainly me. I LIKE being savage], so don't get all politically correct.

Secondly, the Vikings beat Columbus to the punch, but nobody likes the Vikings.

Thirdly, yes it was a Harbor. However, it was also quite a lot of tea! Many tonnes. for comparison, it takes FAR LESS than a kilogram to make a single cup of tea. If you go diving in that harbor you can really tell.

Manny Cav - December 18, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
I drink cold, strong, unsweetened tea on a regular basis (as in just about every day). :D

Richie - December 18, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
I love "cold tea!" Chilled green tea is my absolute favorite.

Manny Cav - December 18, 2007 04:52 AM (GMT)
My mother likes to pour sweetner, whipped cream, etc., into her green tea. Ugh. I like it either plan and hot or plain and cold. No fancies, please. Actually, come to think of it, I like black coffee, as well.

I like Vikings! :D

I also like iced tea. With raspberry flavoring.

Loremaster - December 18, 2007 05:08 AM (GMT)
I like my tea hot enough to cause my mouth to blister and peel. Which it does upon occasion after a good cup.

Also, I don't like the Vikings because I've got some of their blood in me. Bloody Berzerker Gene...

Allen Walker - December 18, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
While we mormons don't drink tea, I drink it. Alas...I can be a good example most of the time, but not all of the time.. -_-

Kuwabara - December 18, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
I prefer green tea with mint. It tastes awesome! (Coffee makers are perfect for tea!)

atariangamer - December 18, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
I'm 13 (I dont need coffee) but when I do get some, its gotta be black. Mostly because I drink it on cold mornings from my great grandmothers store and don't care what it tastes like.

OFFTOPIC: I'm pretty sure I passed my history exam. One of the questions was when was the Boston Tea Party. :D

Dvader0086 - December 18, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
I agree, Green Tea is AWESOME! And it's really good for you too...

atariangamer - December 18, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
:flemoid @ green tea. YUCK!

What do Mormons have against tea?

Loremaster - December 19, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
Probably caffeine. It IS a drug, and the most addictive substance known to man [yet one of the easiest to kick, oddly enough], and as I recall the LDS is very against any kind of drugs.

Manny Cav - December 19, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
Really? Wow. I guess Mormons aren't supposed to drink soft drinks that have caffeine, either.

Some SUPER mormons don't drink stuff like coke, but for the most part, it's acceptable. In fact, we even have some at our church dances if that tells you anything.

And thats what's so dumb, tea (for the most part) is good for you, and yet we can't have it. I say, forget that.

Loremaster - December 19, 2007 05:54 PM (GMT)
If it makes you feel better, there are lots of decaf teas out there. Which is good for me cos I kicked caffeine.

Manny Cav - December 19, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
I don't find any point in drinking decaf tea or coffee, which is why I only have one, and ONLY one cup of coffee in the morning, compared to two glasses of tea throughout the course of the day.

Out here, it seems like most Utah Mormon's are insanely anti-caffeine. The outer-of-staters seem to be a different story though. Originally, wasn't it based on the Words of Wisdom and no "hot drinks" ? My understanding was that they banned coffee and tea in the church once they moved to Utah, so that they would not have to rely on outside trade. *shrugs*

I'm with you though... tea is good and good for you. I would definitely lap up the tea made from the Boston Tea Party.

Thats most likely it.
