Title: Score!

Boingo the Clown - December 11, 2007 01:16 AM (GMT)
The creation of the first person weapons sprites for DeiMWolf just got a whole lot closer today. As of today I now have three of the four weapon props I need to do the job. After much anxious waiting, I have received my prop version of the Walther P38, one of the four German weapons available in the game. (The hero is escaping from a NAZI dungeon, therefore, logically, all the weapons available to him are German weapons captured from NAZI soldiers.)

The detailing on this replica is incredible. It has to be seen to be believed. It even has a clip that can be taken out.

The only weapon prop left is, of course, the MG34 model I am working on, and I am certain I am going to be getting that finished eventually. ;)

Sounds good. Will there be 4 different weapons in DeiMWolf? I don't know much of the Wolfenstein series.

Was it perchance an airsoft replica, or a special-built movie prop?

pics?

Boingo the Clown - December 11, 2007 12:46 PM (GMT)
This is not a picture of the one I have, but it is a pic of the same model from the same manufacturer.

The P38 was the main pistol used by German officers during the war, so I needed this particular model.

That's the problem with doing a mod based in World War II Germany. If it was simply a mod where I needed any old pistol, I could have walked into a dollar store or toy shop and bought pretty much anything off the shelf. There are Glocks and Desert Eagles a plenty. Unfortunately, I want to go for historical accuracy. Groan.

Loremaster - December 11, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Aye, WWII replicas will cost you a pretty penny, alas. But that should make the mod much better ^_^

Kuwabara - December 12, 2007 03:15 PM (GMT)
That is awesome! Can't wait to see the accurate-ness of the gun models!

Manny Cav - December 12, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
If DeiMWolf is going to be a free Wolfenstein IWAD (as I'm sure it will be), then I might pull myself to play it, especially it it proves to be an awesome mod (again, as I'm sure it will be).

:o wow! I like that! sweet looking gun dude! hope this means another release is near...

@Boingo, Do you plan on putting the Full Wolf3d in? Or just the first 9 levels? (I've played it 2 days ago)

Boingo the Clown - December 14, 2007 01:43 AM (GMT)
The first 9 levels for sure.

The others quite possibly.

Actually, now that I know how to do it, it is not going to be the first 9 levels, but the first 10 levels. I originally ditched the secret level of episode I, because of of DooM's 9 level per episode structure, but now it looks like I can add the secret level.

Manny Cav - December 14, 2007 03:25 AM (GMT)
Are you going to be making the new DeiMWolf levels entirely by yourself, Boingo?

Boingo the Clown - December 14, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
The layouts of the levels will be based on the original W3D levels, so in that respect the answer is no.

As for doing the actual work with the editor, and making the graphics, then the answer is a definite yes.

I'm not into guns, but that is a pretty cool pistol.
Don't forget the M1903 Springfield!

P38 looks awesome.

When you're done with it, can I have it? :D

Lucius Octavion - December 16, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
Boingo, that's pretty rad.

And rushnerd I'm surprised at you. I would have thought that you would suggest a British gun... :D

Boingo the Clown - December 17, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
How about the Sheffield Turpin ENfield, a.k.a. The Plumber's Nightmare?

To let you know, the weapons are restricted to German weapons, simply because the first episode is about the hero escaping from a German prison, which means all the weapons he has access to will be German.

I chose the P38 originally because a local army surplus store had some airsoft versions of it. Unfortunately for me, when I finally decided to get one, they had sold out and weren't going to be getting any more.

After this, I decided to continue searching for a good P38 prop, simply because my research showed me that it was the primary pistol used by the Germans in WWII. The Luger P08 was the weapon used in WWI, and was still in use in WWII, but the P38 was the standard weapon.

Had a good Luger prop plopped into my hands, I probably would have accepted it though.
