 Well, only one the first map.
Manny Cav - November 23, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
I haven't played the other maps yet, partly due to being busy and partly due to the issues in the first one. I'll play them eventually, but I will say this: It looks like you made the first map significantly smaller and removed a lot of material out of it, some of which I found quite neat (the large courtyard and the overlapping ventilation systems you can go through, to name a few) were nowhere to be found.
Replica - November 23, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
Scince Zdoom doesn't hold 3d floors, and my computer doesn't hold gzdoom. I had to take it out. :(
Loremaster - November 23, 2007 06:12 AM (GMT)
I haven't had time to play it yet, this semester has kept me unbelievably busy. I WILL play it come winter break, this I promise!
pikazec2012 - November 23, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
i would play it but it will take too long to download
Edit= i waited 45 minutes and finally got it. but here are some notes. in level 2 you cant jump abck into the airvents so you are stuck. also the zorch can is cool
Replica - November 23, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)

They'll appear in other betas.
Manny Cav - November 25, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
I finished the second map. I'll post my comments below.
- I liked the idea of how you emulated the end of one level in the beginning of the next.
- I dislike the music style found in E1M1 (not just that MIDI in particular). It doesn't seem to belong in a Chex Quest game.
- The Super Cycloptis is missing a lot of sound effects, like when it first sees you and when you zorch it back to the flem dimension.
- The purple key door and the surrounding columns that were colored purple had a disturbing effect where they turned purple close up, and then, as you got farther away, it changed color to red, and then alternated between blue and white.
- You had a 4-armed Bipedicus as a Chaingunner replacement as well as my Flemoid? And why did you call my Flemoid "Galous" instead of the correct "Flemoidus Gatlingus?"
- I saw some rather sloppy lettering on some of the new textures, and some outright misspellings. For example, cafe is correctly spelled "café," not "cáfe" like I saw on one texture. Also, you misspelled "Bazoik" as "Baziok."
- Your "Zorch Can" is disproportionate. When you look at the item you collect, the Zorch Can is nearly the size of Chexter's armor, but when you collect the item and it shows up on the HUD, it fits comfortably in Chexter's hand.
- There was a place when walls appeared out of nowhere. Wouldn't have been realistic for them to come up out of the floor gradually instead of suddenly like that?

Thank you for the feed back.
- Thanks ^_^
- I'll see what i can do. E1m3 has around the same music.
- Consider it fixed.
- I'm aware of this, sadly i have no way of fixing it. "Fixed  "
- An error in decorate. You see i didn't change the (Fred was killed by your flemoid.) and the Dehacked patch took over. "Fixed"
- Consider it fixed "Fixed, for the most part"
- Crud, i forgot to change that :( "Fixed"
- Consider it fixed. "Fixed"
Manny Cav - November 26, 2007 03:05 AM (GMT)
I played E1M3 and I have a few more things to say.
- If you look at the intro screen long enough, you can see that when the credits deal with the original Chex Quest creators' names comes by, the blue background images is the old one from TUCQ, not the new one.
- There's no death sound for the Hornetus (at least I didn't ever hear one). Mabey you can check and see for yourself.
- Whenever the Fattnoid is shooting slime or whatever at you, the sprites look like it is getting zorched when it is not. Also, it never makes any sound except for when it is shooting. There isn't a sound for when it sees you or for when it gets zorched back, and mabey not for when it walks, though I'm not sure if the Mancubus had one or not....
Replica - November 26, 2007 05:32 AM (GMT)
1. Thanks, i never would have knoticed!
2.I fixed that whan you said about the caco.
3. same as 2.
True_Dude - November 27, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
Just a small thing... If you go and go to other maps by skipping to them, you can hear music, and the name of the level. (Nice idea for the secret level for Episode 2...) And The final level is still accessible, too. Your level design is clever, and most of the textures are well made, but some stuff doesn't match the chex quest style. Maybe you could change everything to match your style? Or I could try helping you with a few sprites...
Replica - November 27, 2007 01:32 AM (GMT)
Could we talk over pm? On what textures and sprites. I would like for you to help a ton! Thanks for the compliments!
atariangamer - December 3, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
Cool, this is a cool project. I think Its good except for most of the things manny said, which are being fixed.
Replica - December 4, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)

I've created a E2m1. I'll have to check whats open. Could you e-mail it to Replica30@aol.com?
Manny Cav - December 7, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
I played E1M4 and there are a few more things I wish to note.
- The sky doesn't tile well. If you look out into an open field, like on E1M4, you can notice that the sky just doesn't look natural, that it doesn't tile well.
- There's a door texture you used here with the word "prison." Besides the fact that you used lowercase letters, the letters go outside of the black box on the door (they're too big), giving it a very unprofessional look.
- You have a lot of one-way doors that can't be opened again from one side after being opened once, such as the red key door at the end of the level. I opened it once, and then, ran off to do something real quick, but when the door closed, I couldn't open it again. There was also a secret area or two that I couldn't open because of this.

A few of the doors, not necessarily those connected to secret areas. The best way for you to solve problems like these are to play-test your level(s) and see what and which ones are malfunctioning.
True_Dude - December 9, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
I don't know if it's because of the source port GZdoom (which is what I use), but the sky textures don't work. They appear as white skys, pure white skys, which is blinding on levels like Prison. (And it's broken in other mods, I tried.)
Replica - December 9, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
Couldn't you just try Zdoom?
True_Dude - December 9, 2007 05:39 PM (GMT)
I guess, I heard GZdoom is better, but I'll try anyways.
Replica - December 9, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
I never tird gzdoom. So i just thought it would be.
True_Dude - December 9, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
I just tried it. It's better than GZdoom. :P
Manny Cav - December 9, 2007 07:20 PM (GMT)
I finished E1M5, but instead of winning or something, I got sent to a small and un-winnable level that had a lot of keys. Did you play through your mod or anything? Is this intended?
Replica - December 9, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
Thats the end of the beta. I used that room to test if the keys worked in legacy. I still have to learn how to use scripting. so i couldn't fix that.
