Title: Where can I download Chex Quest 2?
Description: Yes I know this has been asked a million
PatPeter - November 15, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
Just what the title says. I heard Home of the Underdogs has Chex Quest 3, but Wikipedia (my source) didn't tell me where Chex Quest 2 could be found.
Quarkz - November 15, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
http://doomlegends.com/chexquest/downloadnf.htmlon that page- i recommend scoping out the entire site while you're there
Manny Cav - November 15, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
I have the actual INSTALL.EXE on my site. Just click my CBA Studios signature and browse around the Chex Quest Gallery. B)

Not to bring this up. (Because you guys are probably fed up by me being very prowed about it.) Chex Quest 3 was a stolen game. Thats why im making a new one. If you wait a while (a day or 2) i'll have a new beta up soon ^_^ .

It's a trap!
Boingo the Clown - November 15, 2007 12:04 PM (GMT)
Somehow I suspect Rick Astley is somehow connected to rushnerd's link.
atariangamer - November 15, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
I will never click on a single link by rushnerd again. :(
TUCQ is the best version like linked above,
but don't get the original unless you are really nostalgic
(it kinda messes up in Win XP, even through DOSBOX)

I didn't see it :( . Rushnerd
rushnerd - November 15, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
I just did it because I knew that manny would be the first to let everyone know about it, lol.
I bet he clicked it though.
Manny Cav - November 15, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
I made the mistake of clicking that link once in your sig and getting bombed, but I came prepared this time -- I opened your link as a new minimized window, and had the task manager standing by. When I found no such Chex Quest material on your site and clicked the red 'X,' that's when the bombing started, but I just used the open task manager to crash the window.

DON'T GET CQ3! IT'S ALL STOLEN CONTENT! CAPS LOCK!
Rushnerd, I'm going to kill you. Lucky I didn't click the link. They tell you where it goes.

Omg what is that from again, "Its a trap!" lol if you play a game called Red Orchestra and a map called Sparta they have a sound for that when you fall to your death, funny.
Anyway I downloaded all 21 parts to your Chex Quest, I should be talking about this on the other forum where I was asking about sound but anyway how do I install it? It keeps saying that the files in the second rar would overwrite the first ones.
Manny Cav - November 18, 2007 09:03 PM (GMT)
Here's what you do.
- Download the first 20 parts (the last, 21st one is unncecessary and is just text information).
- After all of the RAR files are downloaded to the same directory, unzip the first RAR file, and just follow through the steps.
- A batch file should be created after the unzipping. Run that.
- When the DOS window has finished, you can get rid of everything except the BIN and CUE files. That's the Cd image set.

Manny Cav - November 19, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
...Oookay. Do you have WinRAR installed? If you have WinRAR, then just unzip the first RAR archive after downloading them all. After it's finished, run unecm.bat. Then, get rid of everything except chxquest.bin and chxquest.cue. Those two files are the CD image.
I was able to figure this out myself without any help, so it should be pretty easy for you.
No one reads the instructions on my site these days....

How do you open the files command prompt?
Manny Cav - November 19, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
PatPeter - November 19, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
Ok so I have all 20 in one folder, I extracted #1 to the folder, I ran the .bat. Now I delete everything except chxquest.bin and chxquest.cue and extract #2 and do the same thing, if I keep doing this until 20 what do I do then?
Manny Cav - November 19, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
No, no, no. I never said anything about extracting a RAR file other than the first one. You extract RAR file number one. That will start a reaction that will extract from all of the RAR files. Then, run unecm.bat and get rid of everything except the completed BIN and CUE files. When the command prompt has finished and you get those two completed files, you've completed the process.

I also posted that on my site, but I'll repeat it here. You can burn the image onto a blank CD with any conventional CD burning program, you can use a program like
Daemon Tools to mount the image and run it like it was a CD, or you can use a program like
IsoBuster to extract the contents of the image to a folder and run setup.exe to install it without messing around with CD programs (you don't need to burn the image to install the game!).

That, of course, is the sound card issue with the original Chex Quest/Doom engine. Use mine and other's suggestions in that thread. ;)
PatPeter - November 20, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
So the 21 things I just installed are these the original Chex Quest or The New Chex Quest?
Did I forget to mention I own the CD?
Also for Chex Quest 2 where there ever videos that go before or after or did the creators exclude that for 2 because everyone had dial-up way back when?
Manny Cav - November 20, 2007 11:13 PM (GMT)
You never installed 21 things, just one thing. The 20 RAR files make up a split archive.
And the title of the download is "Chex Quest (Full CD)." Hopefully, that will answer your question.
EDIT: If you have the CD, downloading that stuff wasn't really that necessary.
There were never any videos for Chex Quest 2.

Interesting i came back to the page after mozilla crashed and it didn't say "This page has been moved"
So Manny I could have just downloaded the install file for Chex Quest 2? Lol. Is that the original install file from chexquest.com?
But also THANK YOU. Because I am playing the game right now and it is AWESOME!
Manny Cav - November 20, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
Supposedly. I mirrored the Chex Quest 2 install off of
this fine site by Loremaster.
Those 20 RAR files plus the text information file made up a ripped version of the Chex Quest CD. If you have the CD, you already have those files. But I guess it doesn't hurn to have an image of the CD to burn onto a blank CD if you have no means to rip the original CD.
