Title: Internet server wanted!
Description: Stupid playerconect..

atariangamer - August 19, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
Anyone got a good ZM server? I can't get one to work. So if any one knows one, please tell me, cause I like multiplayer! (playerconection didn't work, so I wanted to ask here) Please post a guide for setting it up.

I don't think it is Playerconnector's fault. Doom Legacy doesn't have a very stable network code.

Just make sure your router and firewall have the TCP/UDP ports open that Doom Legacy uses. Then try again with playerconnector.

Right now with the lack of support from doom legacy and the lack of zorchmatch levels, we don't really have anything going.

Lucius, you should make a step-by-step guide on how to play a multiplayer match on Zorchmatch, both for creating a match and for joining a match for noobs that don't quite know how to do it. :D

Well, I would, but here's the problem. I know how it's supposed to work, but the stupid thing is... IT DOESN'T WORK! AhHHHHHHAAhH!!!!!

Ugh. You mean that currently, there's no way to play multiplayer with Zorchmatch?

Lucius Octavion - August 23, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
I don't know and I have never been able to get it to work again.

Manny Cav - August 23, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
Has it ever even been done successfully?

Lucius Octavion - August 23, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
I have in the past but Legacy just seems to be very unstable because I can always run skulltag. If any one else would be so kind to test it out, with the zorchmatch wad, with chex.wad renamed, or doom/doomu.wad, I would greatly appreciate it.

Manny Cav - August 23, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
I'll download Skulltag and see if I can get something cooking. Now, will Zorchmatch run on Skulltag instead of Legacy?

Lucius Octavion - August 23, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
No, it won't because Zorchmatch is running with TUCQ. It has to be legacy at the moment.

Manny Cav - August 23, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
That's odd, because I can run Zorchmatch single player just fine without TUCQ. Now, what will I need to do to test Zorchmatch with Legacy?

First try a LAN game if you have two computers. This you don't need to worry about internet ports. Just make sure both computers have EXACTLY the same files.

I've got two computers, but I don't know how to set up a "LAN" game, as I have never done internet gaming before. Now, should I also use TUCQ as the primary PWAD? Because the WAD seemed to run just fine without it.

'k, this I can help with! to do a simple 2 player game, plug 2 computers together with networking cable. Make sure that both legacy programs have the same settings and files (down to the filename). patch in tucq and the latest ZM. Run the game in single player. End the game. use one computer to be the server and start a multiplayer game. Go to the other computer and end the game, BUT connect to the game you set up. The two should work with out problem as long as the server is active. (oh, and make sure you move from you starting spot...If player 2 gets spawned in your spot, you get stuck.)
