Title: FileSize Trouble
Description: Umm...A little help here?!?

atariangamer - August 19, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
Allright, I love ROTQ and the idea of mp3 music, but... how would you like to download 75 megs when it took you an hour to load alpha 5?!? (I got dial up, see?)
So...If anyone with highspeed can, please post a wad with only the levels and graphics needed to run it off of alpha 5? No mp3 music...and if you got the time...break the levels off where the mod stops. I kept cruizn' thru the levels till I saw some stuff I don't really wanna see (like hanging bodies and other gor) and I quit that faster than Even legacy would go...so any help? :(

I could remove the mp3's from the wad and that would cut down quite a bit, but it may take some time...

WAIT a minute, back up here. You're saying there's MP3 MUSIC in your WAD!? I only ever hear MUS music when I play the WAD, but I did some snooping in your WAD with XWE, and sure enough, there were MP3 files stashed away in there (I exported the lumps and renamed the file extensions to .mp3, and I got valid MP3 files). How come do I only hear the MUS music when I play your WAD?

First of all Manny, they have to be a lump in xwe so don't change that... In order to hear the mp3's in legacy read the read me...

I only altered the files after exporting them. And I did check the readme completely, but I'll look it over again at your suggestion.

EDIT: Okay. I got it working.

Here you go artarigamer!

Reduced Filesize CQROTQ

Or at the CQROTQ homepage...

Is the MP3 throw-out going to be a permanent change, or are you going to release an MP3-less version with each release?

Dvader0086 - August 27, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
Probably with every version since the full version takes up a lot of space...

thanks dvader. Whew, this is still gonna take a little while  but i'll do it somehow. This is an awesome mod. now...

Q: isn't freedoom just a fan made DooM ][ ??? (I can't play real doom)

Q: did ya make new textures?

Dvader0086 - August 31, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
I think freedoom is a GNU licensed software... Most GNU licensed softwares are free and are open source so you can edit bugs or other things...

Ya know, no new textures yet but there are new sprites so it does no look so doomish, with blood and guts and stuff... I have new floor and ceilings but no new walls yet...

I would imagine you can't play real doom because your parents won't let you yet, but it should look like Chex Quest once Phase 1 is done...

It's simple... just break it into two wad files and anyone who doesn't want the mp3 music doesn't have to download it.

Dvader0086 - September 1, 2007 01:50 PM (GMT)
That's what I plan to do from now on...

Since some people don't like the music I've selected... I think we shall have two versions...
