i added EYETIS onto
CQ3 but an error happened it said "R_INITSPRITE: NO PATCHES FOUND FOR VILE FRAME\" what does this mean?

i hacked the wad so it read EYES as the main sprite name for EYETIS or the Archvile.


Example = VILEA1
or EYESITA1

Normally, you hack the thing names to from 4 letter prefixes to 4 letter prefixes, not 6 letter prefixes. I'm not sure how Doom Legacy would react to this. Why don't you try changing it to EYES, EYED, or something like that?

edit = i just remebered i tried VILE and that didn't work. strange.

What are the prefixes of the Arch-Vile sprites you uploaded into your WAD?

Whu? Well, which is it? VILE or EYES? The prefix for the Arch-Vile sprites in your WAD can't (or at least shouldn't) be both.

It CANNOT. any way. EYES is the first thing i tried. then VILE.

This would be a WHOOOOLE lot simpler if you would upload this WAD somewhere so I could take a look at it.

it could be because this is a Doom game not DOOM2 but the Mancubis worked.... i'll upload it when im on my computer .

It is probably because you are running the game in an incompatible game mode or something. You said the Mancubus worked though... the arch vile is a weird one though because it has so many frames and states. That could be causing the problem.

before it gave me that error. it said no Rotations in E or someting.

i got rid of the VILE]A1 and stuff and it works fine :blink:

i cant use VILE anyway. i forgot that boingo used it as Quadrumpas. thus mine is Quadrumpas. :(

I don't believe Boingo has even used the Vile position yet.

he used it for Quadrumpas. in his dehack patch. just look at Quadrumpas's Frames numbers.

When I toyed around with TUCQ and placed an Arch-Vile in E1M1, I got garbage. It started out as a Quadrumpus, but it you looked away and looked back, it would turn into a larva (or the other way around?). And if it ever touched you, Legacy would throw you out. I thought to make the Quadrumpus, Boingo hacked up some piece of decoration to act like a monster. Did he make 2 Quadrumpuses? :huh:

no. in order for Boingo to work the Deceration. first off if you look in the Dehack patch. theirs a text 4 4 then under it VILEQUAD that changes Vile to QUAD. thats how he got it to do so. and if you open Wacked2 or another program. you can not use a QUADA for some thing. the game as a very limeted amout of main names. Example. he could only have like POSSA because lets say its the deceration name. it doesn't have the POSSE, POSSH, ect. so inorder to change that he'll have to take it from a thing that had it. Thus the Archvile. the reason he didnt just use the Vile was because he wanted it to have a different speical charatoristics. like he didnt want the Quad to have a slime ball appear under him. and in doom legacy1 you canot fix this. maybe in legacy two. am i right boingo?

a long story short. he needed the sprites form the Vile to make the Quad but to be Specific, on what he want it to do. he made it into a Things.
