Some of you already know about this but I got out my old chex quest CD-ROM and ran it through DOSbox and it played like original good old DOS!! Who needs soruce ports?!? :P
It will work also with DooM or any old DOS game or program. Give it a try.
DOSbox, a x86 emulator with DOSdownload the latest version, 0.70

DOXbox is great. I often use it to play old games from the days before Windoze took over. These were the days before 3D cards, and games often had to be more creative than just having some guy in fatigues running around shooting things.

There is a problem, however.
In chex quest 2 on e1m1,(using version 0.70) when the red door opens, the game slows down extemely to an unplayable level.
In version 0.63, the game would just crash altogether, I dont know what results 0.65 would have produced.
If anybody has any insights, enlighten me.

Chex Quest 2 does it to me all the time without using DOSbox. It will either slow to a crawling halt or simply throw me out of the program altogether.

I think I have found a soultion. Once you have the red key, go into no clipping mode and pass the red door. The game doesnt slow down, and its playable. It is considered cheating, but its necssary.

This doesn't happen at all on either The Ultimate Chex Quest or The New Chex Quest. :D
EDIT: Lol at your signature. Did you read my topic or something? I thought that was rushnerd who wanted to do that.

Seems only the DOS version slows down.
EDIT: I think I know why. In the red door area, the ceiling has an inappropraite texture. As a result, chex.exe demands more resources from the CPU, which it cannot handle and slows down. Doom Legacy is a completly another story, it is an Win32 native program, therefore its code structure and resources are completly diffrent from the regular .exe MS-DOS files. Just a theroy. Speculate if you wish.
ANOTHER EDIT: yeah, I read it
