Title: Sam and Max
Description: They're Back!

Dvader0086 - June 29, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
You may remember the old TV show from the 80's called Sam and Max: Freelance police... You may also remember the DOS computer game Sam and Max Hit the Road by Lucasarts...

Now they're back in a new series of games IN 3-D! I recently googled Sam and Max, and an interesting company popped up called Telltale Games which gave good ole Sam and Max a face lift and created more games with more on the way! Hard to believe it's been 20 years since they appeared... I can still remember playing the old game by Lucasarts on my old 486 and laughing at they funny stuff that was in it like:

Animals that eat stuff whole and Max has to fish it out though the mouth...

A store that's called Bosco's that sells guns and liquor and baby needs...

A sign that says: Soiled office space available...

*sigh* Those were the good ole days...

Kuwabara - June 29, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
I remember seeing a video of the DOS one on Cinematech on G4. (back when it actually focused on video games, not on drunken girls..) It seemed pretty funny.

Well since loremaster wants it, I think I'll update a little more...

Sam and Max season 1 is going to be available on DVD this July towards the end of the month... I probably will get it since it's only for $34.95 plus you can download all the episodes... The DVD version will feature cut scenes and stuff like that... as well as they will have the season 1 soundtrack plus some files you can put from season 1 into your DVD case...

Right now on telltale they are having a history of Sam and Max going back to the earlier days when it was a comic strip and such...

Also... season 2 is expected to be out towards winter...

Chotto*, there was a show of it? I thought it was just a game....

*--Wait.

Go on google video, and search for Sam and Max tv show. It's kid-oriented, so it's a crapload more messed up than the game.

Wait...no Lucasarts for the new game? I hardly see that as Sam & Max then.

Of course i'm also a sucker for "Graphic adventure games" and mostly only the DOS ones.

My boyfriend bought the DOS copy with his hard earned cash back when he was a little kid, off the internet of all places.

DOSBOX is your friend mate. I successfully got Doctor Who: Dalek Attack running on DOSBOX a few months ago while in college. Give it a try.

I think I already have it to run Duke Nukem 2 but I dunno... Is it where you can just drag the program on the icon to run it?

Sorry for lack of updates! I wanted to continues this, and just forgot... Anyway I remember hearing somthing about you can reopen old topics if your the ones who started them so... If not just close it...

Anyway, Sam and max seson 2 is being worked on, and I just got season 1 and am enjoying it alot...

@ Loremaster: I suggest you buy season 1 if you like sam and max like you said you did... It's very funny!

Just like the good ol day of sam and max, you have to solve puzzles... but a new twist is you get to dirve your car with the mouse!

I was going to get season 1 on DVD-ROM buy I found a cheaper version on 2 CD-ROMs at office max...

anyway for those who don't know the timeline of how sam and max got started, here you go...

Back in 1987 Steve Percell's Brother was doing the comics of sam and max and steve would finish them for him... Finally his brother said: "You do them!" and it started from there...

In 1993 Sam and max came on to the PC in their first game: Sam and Max hit the road! It was released by lucas arts and a sequel was planned, but never made it...

in 1997 Sam and max made it on TV in the form of a saturday morning cartoon show...

1999-2004 Nothing was done for sam and max and tanlent was wasted...

In 2005 they finally apeared in a web comic after all those years!

2007 to presant: 3-D games were being made for sam and max! Yahoo!

NOTE: I got this timeline off the box that came with season 1...

I do see that Gamespot gave all the games High Ratings, and I don't know about you but that's where I get my game reviews and downloads... I highly reccomend this series!

...You did Necromancy?

Dvader0086 - December 9, 2007 02:43 PM (GMT)
as I stated in prevous post... I was taking arisk on bringing this back, but I hope it's okay because I was the on who started it... I don't know if that changes anything or not, but I heard if you start a topic you can pick up where you left off...

atariangamer - December 9, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
*eyes well up with tears* Man, I wish I could get sam 'n max. I saw the G4 special on lucasarts and lucasfilms games a while back, too. Ever since I wanted to play it. But, we all dont have jobs (like a 14 yearold me) and I wasn't alive when the show or the comics or the games were out. But I do like the SCUMM engine, aka point and click engine. (sorry to help dvader out in this necromancy, but i didn't see this)

Mr_deeds - December 10, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
I hate it when you play sam and max season 1! It's so stupid! That's all I ever see you play!

Dvader0086 - December 10, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)

I just finished Reality 2.0 and It's one funny game! It made me laugh real hard!

Fortunatly I've been playing them in order so there's no confusion over the storyline... I wonder who Roy G. Biv is?
