Title: Idiotic Jones III - Your Ideas
Description: Gimme your input!

My main goal for the third installment of the series is to make a fun level revolving around solving puzzles, rather than blazing through with guns and thunder.

And to that end, I would like to know what kind of interesting puzzles you would like to see in the level.

could you put in like a dead door game? like have a room with to doors. and have one door lead you out of your destination, and the other get into another room like that but with 3 doors, the dead dorrs lead to the room you begin in with a teleporter. in the beging room you should have a path of a different floor on the gound well that is not like a path you fallow but has like the answer like have on on the left and then it goes to the center.

A reply! Applause! :D

Joking aside, basically, your idea is to have a room with multiple doors, only one of which is the correct one, and the others go through more doors, then circle back?

correct! don't forget the answer key in maybe a secret room!

Alright, I'll toy around and see what I can come up with.

Xbolt, sorry this has been gone for a while, but got any screens to show us so far? I really can't wait to see what you have so far.

Very well. Here is a screenshot of inside the caves:

And here is the earlier shot I took of the jungle:

And for progress updates, the level is very nearly finished. I should have it out in time for the second anniversary of Newmaps. (Sheesh, I can't believe it's been that long already!)

Have you done the doors of doom yet?

xbolt - June 1, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
Maybe. Maybe not. You must wait until the release to get details of which puzzles I included. ;)

I've never been much of a puzzle fan, except the kind of puzzles that are in Zelda. You know - the kind where you literally have to sit there and do random things (while looking around) until something happens. Except, being Zelda - it's not as bad as it sounds. Do you understand what I'm saying?

I think so. You're the kinda guy who likes things where you just hang around until something happens.

You could make a script where you stand there for a second then a door opens or something...

I'm sorry xbolt, I myself am not one for solving puzzles, or making them.

Really? I like puzzles in games. (Up to a certain point, of course)

Mob720 - June 1, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
Just make it fun, not boring. I like puzzles in games up to a certian point (like when there are too many and it gets boring.)

I do too, but I get frustrated when I can't solve certain ones. And I can't make really good ones either, I have tried.

That's my plan. ^_^
