Title: Board Errors
Description: click here... if you can
ludemonkey - July 21, 2003 10:11 PM (GMT)
Though this board has been good for sometime, these errors are starting to get pretty annoying.... but we get what we pay for....
anyway... just wondering if anyone knows CGI... or knows of any better forums online (for free since thats the WPC budget)
prelude97 - July 22, 2003 07:42 PM (GMT)
jesus I've been trying to reply to this for awhile but I keep getting bored errors!
how much is a decent forum per year jer?
ludemonkey - July 22, 2003 09:52 PM (GMT)
i think its possible to get an forum for free (software wise)... and hosting a site which has a PHP or ASP service you are looking at around 15 bux a month canadian which works out to around 160 bux a year... something i would likely cover myself if i had the money... but im a tight budget... both for this... and life in general...
i know this site is pretty bare bones right now... hopefully once im only working one job this falll ill have more time to improve it. Id like to end up making it a popular stop for all prelude owners of canada when people need or want material for writeups and stuff... but like i said i havent had much time to work on it....
apparently the database errors are being worked on... but it sucks not having much control over it... anyway... right now im just trying to see how much interest people have in seeing this club grow or not... id like to see it grow... but i dont want to invest too much if other people dont care... ive already met enough good people through this... but i think it has more potential then people think...
*crosses fingers hoping this will actually post*
btw... u still gonna have a prelude... i thought u were selling and moving out of town?
prelude97 - July 22, 2003 11:32 PM (GMT)
that WAS the plan.. but if I intend on moving to ontario I gotta sell my car asap.. doesnt look like I will though. If I do, who knows.. I might buy a 3rd or 4th gen and stick around
ludemonkey - July 23, 2003 01:06 AM (GMT)
well good luck with whatever your doing...
nothing wrong with 3rd or 4th Gens.... if u need me to change ur board name just lemmie know
slo mo - July 23, 2003 10:01 PM (GMT)
Like usual, everyone is too fucking cheap to pay for the board...pretty fucking pathetic that everyone ignores these threads.
oh well, I say we let the WPC die!!

yea and i've already told jer that i'ld give the site some money at the next lude meet...i think you should chill out slo mo, i mean i can see that ur pissed off but i dont think you should talk smack about everyone...like greenz said im pretty sure alot of people would give some money to keep the site from dying
ludemonkey - July 24, 2003 01:09 AM (GMT)
well.. i think things will just stay the same until i have $100+ in donations to the club... it would come together fast if everyone who said they would donate would donate.. however so far slo mo has been the only one to come through... generously i might add....
but ya... im not gonna chase people down for money... and ill keep track of who donates what for the future of wpc... so whatever happens happens
slo mo - July 24, 2003 02:56 AM (GMT)
I should chill out?? F@#% THAT!!!
I'm not talking smack, I'm just sayin what I see of the current situation. We've had 3 big meets with 15+ preludes at each one and the donation count is still at $0.00.
Everyone knows that the site doesn't operate for free. Jer's put way more time into it than he should have. Everyone says "Next meet i'll donate", but know one has. If you want to prove me wrong, DO IT...if not, I'm right.
Telling people to donate is bullshit. I've wanted to make a post about it for a long time. Jer shouldn't have to beg people for cash to operate the site either.
I suggest a bunch of you step up and prove me wrong by donating to the site. Jer has set up a paypal donation link and everything. I have no problem retracting my statements as soon as I see that people are actually going to back up their mouths.

wow... these errors have really gotten bad... does anyone have any ideas about where else we can run this site off of with minimal costs (preferably free). I like the way these forums are setup compared to that yahoo! group thing we had setup, but lately this forum has been crap. Its not just our forum, its happening to everyone that are using these forums... ive also liked these forums because they are easy to setup and whatnot and look somewhat professional.
i understand where everyone is coming from.. but lets all try to get along... im not going to think about shutting down WPC until the domain name is up (next April).. at that point i'll just judge interest and stuff... ive been pretty happy with the turnouts so far and how far WPC has come in only a few short months from the vision i started out with in early february... but i dont know if it will just die over winter by itself or what... i think the organization has a lot more potential then people think... there is power in numbers
i dont mind putting my time into site... as it allows me to express myself creatively... (just as i do with my lude)... but it is disheartening when i've been offered help or donations and no one pulls through (though ive grown used to it from my relationship with women... and trying to sell items online)...
c'est la vie

yeah, i must say this board had quite a few error messages pop up while i'm trying to navigate it. Jer, i'd like to meet up sometime, as soon as i get back and personally make a donation to WPC. Don't know as to how much it will be yet, will see how much i bring home from out here in good ole Saskatchewan.

id appreciate that....
ive added a few emoticons for people to express themselves without using profanity :)... as WPC discourages it (
board rules)
:protest:   :blam: :luvsite: :retarded: :lmao: :pissed: :brucelee:

As poor as I am, donation is not a problem. As a matter of fact, this is the first and olnly thread that I have seen that mentions anything about needing money for this forum to operate.
Anyhow, Jer, is it the forum software or is it the hosting company thats giving us trouble? If it is the forum software, there are quite a few available for free. A friend of mine is using PHP BB (freeware) and its been running solid. If it is the hosting company, then I can hook us up with a LOW cost provider (I work with him here at GWL and he leases a dedicated server)
I understand Jer and Kevin have invested a lot of time and money to start this site. I enjoy visiting it when I can therefore, I will do my best to support it.
Jer/Kev, PM me or call me and we can discuss further.
lude4life - July 28, 2003 11:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, actually gone a whole day so far without any errors!! :hellzya:
ludemonkey - July 25, 2003 04:51 PM (GMT)
im told that it is the forum database that is all whack... if you notice it gets better at times when traffic on all these forms is low.. but during the day its all wack...
this is the first post really about money... though it was previously mentioned before when talking about the future of the site
(click here if you can)ill send u some pm later and see what we can setup
ludemonkey - July 28, 2003 05:21 AM (GMT)
errors seemed to have been fixed... or at least getting better...
greenz00 - July 31, 2003 01:59 AM (GMT)
okie.. i really didn't notices any errors at first.. now its starting to really piss me off where im not goin to bother post or even checkin out the site.. and see another error appear will tick me off even more..soo i'll probley come and update the page once ahwile..
if i "add reply" and see another error.. ahhhhhhhh :brucelee:
ludemonkey - July 31, 2003 04:10 AM (GMT)
it has gotten a lot better... still have to talk to kim/turbo dude about setting something up on a more dedicated server
anyway... id like to thank chester/copperpot for donating recently... it shall go to good use...
