copperpot - June 24, 2003 02:41 AM (GMT)
anyone interested in buying a CF hood with me from B.C.? this guy is selling perfect fit 18 lbs. hoods for $570. shipping is $80. i'm still talking to him about pre-drilled holes so that we can place our washer nozzles in hassle free. here's a pic:

we can save on shipping and we can probably (no guarantees) get like.. $10-$30 off. not much but hey, we can spend our savings on more mcdonalds. i'm gonna place my order in mid july so let me know.

cf hood would look sweet! Don't know if i'd have the money for that though, wanna do some other stuff first, but why the predrilling?? aren't the washer nozzles mounted under the hood in the grill part below the windshield?

Carbon Fiber sucks...If I were you guys I wouldn't get anything CF....

Chester, have you talked to the guy from autorice or anyone who has his hood? Are the edges wrapped? How much do they wiegh?

If you guys aren't satisfied with his product I'm sure you could set up a VIS gb for a little more money but the VIS is super quality. Just an idea.

yeah i would like to get hooked up with that deal....but how is the hood. It sounds like a good deal but are the edges just cut and what does under the hood look like. I know VIS hoods and FIber Images are a bit expensive but they are really good quality. If you could find out about how good the quality is im in.

hood weighs in at 18 lbs. and i'm in the process of figuring out whether the edges are wrapped or not from the seller and a person who has bought the hood. the person who bought the hood seems satisfied from the posts i read about his hood.
anyway i met another guy who sells cf hoods and replica body kits for the 5th gen. in the city. i seen his cf hood and it's not that great (anyone seen that white lude with a body kit at honda regent a couple weeks ago?). i'll see if i can get deals on body kits though.
i'm also in talks in getting either greddy, f-max turbos, and jrsc's for really cheap or at a discount price. i'll update u guys on that later.

i think i know who you are talking about. Is it a white lude with wings west big mouth kit and tenzo r rims? I saw his hood and the edges are just cut and the hood doesn't even fit properly. I was talking to that guy and he says he can get parts and stuff for ludes too.....but i don't know about him.......seems shady.

copperpot - June 26, 2003 06:37 AM (GMT)
yup, that's the guy~ haha that's what i was thinking too "edges are rough and the hood doesn't fit properly~!" haha
he was a real nice guy when i met him. he didn't have a card or anything but he told me to look in the phonebook for his business name.
anyway, i got word from a customer from the guy who sells the cf hoods. this is what he had to say:

QUOTE
"Hey...

The edges on the hood are rough...but not edgy...7.9/10

The finish is about an 8/10...it looks a little uneven in the light when looking at an angle...although the weave underneath is straight, and it aligns about 8.5/10...

I'd like to compare the Gemini hoods...I wonder how much more of a clearcoat the Gemini hoods get compared to Jamie's hoods (Autorice)...

I'm pretty happy with it, although, I know I've seen better...AND...I also know I've seen a lot worse too...some of my buddy's rides have NO more clearcoat on it...totally rough...

Hope that helps...?"

the guy's lude is the black lude with autorice on it. there's a 35% chance i might get this type of cf hood.
the gemini hoods this guy is talking about is ultra premo. way better than vis' cf hoods. they weigh 13 lbs. and is available in v-thread style.
here are some pics:

these hoods go for around.. $750. shipping is probably about $80 also. i'll try to get a deal on these things, i can probably.. get them for about.. $675-700 each. if you guys are interested, let me know.

luderydah - June 26, 2003 07:05 AM (GMT)
looks good!!! when do you think you plan on ordering if you find out a set price on them???

copperpot - June 26, 2003 09:37 AM (GMT)
i'll try to get a price on the gemini hoods hopefully before the weekend. if i don't, i'll probably get a price before next wednesday.

slo mo - June 26, 2003 02:00 PM (GMT)
I've never heard of gemini hoods. How are they better than VIS?

copperpot - June 26, 2003 07:48 PM (GMT)
at some vancouver show (import show off), they compared vis' 5th gen. cf hood to the gemini 5th gen. cf hood. the verdict, everybody loved the gemini hood. the gemini hood has "rolled edges, beautiful waves, smooth and shiny surfaces, great fitment, full frame skeletons, etc."
not only are the hoods great but the service is unbeatable. if you're unsatisfied with the hood (which they believe u won't be), you can return the hood on the same day and u'll get a full refund. for more info on the hoods, call brian @ 604-961-0936 or jeremy @ 604-857-5906.
you can try ordering the hoods from them at $750. i'm still trying to get a good decent price for their quality.
