Title: whats happening now?

Does leon have plans to win any musical awards this year?
I must say that I've been rather surprised that Leon's 3 songs went to top the 903 charts in HK. I thought they stopped ranking his songs once he announced that he no longer wanted to receive awards from HK.

i don't think that includes radio awards...i mean that's based on playtime on the station and you can't just ignore that...

Ah_M - November 15, 2004 09:24 AM (GMT)
Huh, that many? Only remember MTSL reaching No.1 in 903 chart, 2PF was No.1 on RTHK chart and that's about it... All the songs that Leon plugged since annoucing his 'retirement' from awards have charted respectably, maybe you haven't been checking ^_^

Leon doesn't take part in any HK-based music awards, so if he does win any, he won't be there to pick it up himself. And if anyone's gonna award him it'll be CR coz they're more fair about this kinda stuff (but Leo and Edmond will probably sweep up everything)...TVB8 awards might be worth watching though.

not true - his XMAS album from 2001 I think "Hey", was a big flop. The plugged song didn't do too well on the charts and they didn't stay as long as the ones from this album did.

'Eyes Can't Lie' from 'Hey' album topped the charts definitely. The faster songs probably didn't do that brilliantly but it's understandable since radio stations don't seem to favour the up-tempo ones anyway. By respectably, I mean top 10/15 at least. Leon managed to get into the top few nominees for My Favouite Male Singer in 2002 for CR awards if I remember correctly (probably top 5, only know that I was shocked to see his name appear) so who knows what could happen? :)

haha sometimes LL just plugs the wrong songs...i don't find Hey to be that good of a plug; there were fast songs on the album that would fit the radio mood more

Mrs Lai - November 20, 2004 03:32 AM (GMT)
Arghhh, NO WAY, when I heard HEY on the radio I was like "THIS IS IT!" Nah, HEY gotta be one of the best fast plugs in history.

quadshock - November 20, 2004 06:13 AM (GMT)
really? i liked the melody but the beat was a bit too electronic for me (for the current me, anyway. my musical preferences change all the time). The intro and stuff just don't seem fit for radio play in my opinion

I agree with the first part (the plugged fast songs from Hey except Hey itself ended up being my not-so-favourite songs on the album, maybe that's why his album's sell so well - people can expect much better songs on them).
Hey is very innovative and cool but needs the video to go with it so not that ideal for radio.

Mrs Lai - November 20, 2004 09:55 AM (GMT)
Well, he prob didn't choose the right plugs for Hey... like Waiting for the day took a while for me to like... Would've been safer to plug an easier to like song I guess... but he couldn't really go wrong with Hey... Hey is prob one of the most perfect albums I think, any plug would've worked one way or the other. That friend remember that said You are mine was weird... she liked 3 songs from Hey... :lmao:

quadshock - November 20, 2004 08:05 PM (GMT)
Hey was quite an album...so much variety; each and every song stood out distinctively for me

Mrs Lai - November 21, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)
Yep, the CD was good for sure... but the pics... ehhh...

Ah_M - November 22, 2004 10:34 AM (GMT)
yeah talk about lack of inspiration! :P but some pics were cute/sweet and the MVs plus songs more than made up for it! :)

Mrs Lai - November 22, 2004 11:11 AM (GMT)
The pics prob weren't that bad... what I didn't like was that brick wall! There was just something abt the brick wall... I usually like fake backgrounds, so if u're gonna use a real one, it better be pretty... but the brick wall was just a brick wall... I think the colour of my brick house was nicer than those bricks... too reddy.

Ah_M - November 22, 2004 11:33 AM (GMT)
ooh i see haha...thought the whole thing was quite fake to be honest and looked awkward, clothes and style didn't really go, looked like Leon pic was just transferred onto a pic of a brick wall and that was it! But I like looking at the album information for some reason though...
