Everyone's too busy listening to it... hehe...

Anyway, my comments... I like the canto version very much. I always like the canto version better tho. I think he sings it with much more feel than the Nike designer guy, which was expected anyway. And now I want a canto version of the other 2 songs, provided they're only included as bonuses on the new CD and not as whole new songs.

Oh yeh, I was just thinking before... do u guys think a canto version of the Dream of Warrior theme song would be good?

cheesegirl - June 7, 2004 06:09 AM (GMT)
I think the song Dream of a Warrior is very good :D , no need a canto one :ph43r:

I think Leon's performance was very good and singing with feeling, and I feel more expect for his new album after listen this, um... but some of us feel a bit disappointed about the lyric, i agree that..
quadshock want to say sth about the song?

Maggie - June 7, 2004 06:23 AM (GMT)
me like it... can't wait for his new CD to release....

Really? I don't understand what he's singing really... is it meaningless or something? It sounds good tho, totally fits with the music.

Ah_M - June 7, 2004 12:08 PM (GMT)
i did comment at leonline, no one took interest! :D

first off, that performance sounded too good to be live, only realise it is when he sang two words wrong! so can't wait to hear CD version :)
didn't think it sounded 'right' in canto at first but getting used to it now.
shame he didn't sing the bit in the middle though, rarely hear that kind of style...

and yeh, what do the lyrics mean? has too many words i never come across

quadshock - June 7, 2004 11:42 PM (GMT)
I liked the song; Leon's unique voice always brings a special feel to the songs. Though I would say the dude who sang the mandarin version probably has what most ppl would consider a "stronger" voice. Leon's voice is unique in that...it is actually really high when he sings, but you can immediately tell he's male (not like some other singers where youc an't determine the gender).

sandra's translations:
Can't explain what I want
Can't predict what will happen

But I have been waiting for a lover to fall in love with

Everything is covered
what is considered love
but i am afraid we can't be together

to be together with you
to be become your friend
at first wanting love, then it changed to love feelings
hope to relish our together

if I leave you i would feel remorseful
hoping to be with you forever
Staying with you
later want to hold you
at first wanting love, then it changed to love feelings
should I kiss you?

*********

Personally I would like to see more non-love related lyrics. I really liked M:I2's lyrics (except for the rap...that was pretty weak/shallow), and other songs like Warm Air and Most Wonderful Moment. Perhaps a new type of lyrics would allow more depth into it (I found a lot of Homework's lyrics to be shallow). I mean...there's only so much you can say about love, and the countless Leon love songs have covered a lot of the love song categories/themes...

Yeh, everyone at the chinese boards said he performed live, but when I watched it I told Weh it was CD... cos it was so good. I played it another 5 times, and I still thought it was CD. Hehe, silly me.

Which 2 words he sing wrong?

Maybe cos they wanted to relate it to LMLY still. Personally I like love lyrics... hehe. He's so sweet... :D

quadshock - June 8, 2004 04:54 AM (GMT)
haha maybe because i'm male. but variety never hurts =)

hmm lyrics are ok, wonder what others like about it? there was a topic on it at the lfc board but couldn't read it...

mi2 rap was funny but kinda cool too!...yeh, warm air and moment lyrics are really nice plus warm persons' world and last track on perhaps album - all have the charity feel to them and some of my fave songs :) dna gone wrong is pretty good, and deep feelings not yet said - brought a tear to my first time reading the translated lyrics! :D

first time i heard chet lam i thought he was a girl o.0

a lot of taiwanese singers have a high voice...and i often have to listen for like 15 seconds before i can tell the gender...

Yeh, he does, but I like those voices. Lke Jeff Chang, he's a made singer. Btw, anyway know his whereabouts? My mum's idol... hehe, he's gone missing for a while, she's getting worried. :)

No lah, that part was right... but I don't know why the lyricists put that line in. Should have changed it. It's so easy to stuff that part up, I can't even say it properly unless I have 1 second breaks between the words.

quadshock - June 9, 2004 02:22 AM (GMT)
how do you know it's wrong? o.0 aren't the lyrics floating aroudn the net based on the sogn in his performance?

really?? lol only heard him on that english song but he sounds male enough.

oh thought you're talking about hk singers...hacken's voice is high but he sounds like a guy...hehe reminded me of that korean singer who sang the theme song to autumn love now, still don't know whether it's a guy or a girl...

i'm sure i read about jeff chang not so long ago, can't remember what for now

yeah, that's why i don't feel canto version sounds right sometimes and that last bit 'wan ying but ying mun ney' - like a different key to the original and not as smooth overall.

i was following the lyrics on screen and i'm sure he changed one or two words

quadshock - June 9, 2004 08:40 PM (GMT)
but didn't they type the lyrics out according to what he sang in concert?!

Yeh, mando always sounds smoother. But then they tend to have too many "sh" and "er" is there... hehe...

quadshock - June 12, 2004 07:12 PM (GMT)
yeah amndarin itself flows better than Cantonese. Sometimes i don't like the "sh's" either...
