Title: It would be cool if Leon could work with...
quadshock - April 10, 2004 11:21 PM (GMT)
who do you think would work well with leon? even if they're from different companies
i think
1) chet lam-amazing singer/composer
2) fiona sit-she's a pretty good new singer, but just needs some better songs. Leon doing a duet with her would be so nice
3) denise ho- just because she's one of my favorite female singers =)
qhettocow - April 12, 2004 02:23 AM (GMT)
please no - fiona sit? oh my, IMO she's way overrated wayyy too soon. =\
but i agree - denise ho is a fabulous singer.
and more candy then! Leon worked with Candy before in her music special, right? Although, I didn't get the chance to see it - they looked like they had a lot of fun together. =]
how about more faye/leon collaborations? i am....a fayenatic, afterall. :)
GaV - April 12, 2004 08:13 AM (GMT)
fiona sit is pretty good for a new singer though compared to most newer artists. she has some nice songs =)

I don't even know who those females are. I only know a few chinese female singers. I like gigi leung and kelly chen alot. sammi is not hot but her music is one of the best in the female category.

For females, I prefer Kelly Chen & Sammi Cheng. ;)
For males, I wish to see him work with Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Ekin Cheng, Benny Chan Ho Man, and Zai Zai or Vanness Wu of F4.
Ah_M - April 14, 2004 11:15 AM (GMT)
Did you notice a few of HK's top composers at Leon's last concert? Ronald Ng Lok Shing, Dennie Wong Dan Yee and Joey Tang Kin Ming, wonder why Leon doesn't use them?
Singing-wise, no one in particular (Denise is good but for some reason, seems like a strange pairing with Leon) but movies - there's a whole list of Korean actresses :D I'd like to see Leon work with Miriam Yeung ideally in a romantic comedy. Other choices are Gigi Leung, Angelica Lee and Karena Lam. Oh I might as well throw Twins in there too but big brother-little sister type relationships of course.
leonfantasy - April 14, 2004 04:34 PM (GMT)
it could be like, he dates one girl, then turns to other girl, uhmm, he could plays as a play, bad guy.
quadshock - April 15, 2004 03:05 AM (GMT)
ohhhh also kelly chen! i liked the charity duet they did
GaV - April 15, 2004 09:44 AM (GMT)
with regards to Twins, Leon playing in a similar role to Ekin's character's relationship with the Twins girls would be good. seeing char or gill romantically linked to Leon would be too weird
quadshock - April 16, 2004 05:44 PM (GMT)
personally i dont' want leon to work with twins :X
qhettocow - April 17, 2004 01:43 AM (GMT)
it would be cool if leon could work with me! :)
okok, i think kelly and leon would make a great couple!!! :)
angelica lee would be a good choice as well.

whys that quad?
quadshock - April 17, 2004 11:15 PM (GMT)
i dunno...to me they just seem to have very little talent...in fact most EEG singer/actors make me feel that way...in both singing and acting.
GaV - April 18, 2004 08:19 AM (GMT)
well they are still so young
they still got heaps of time to improve~ so maybe in time..
Mrs Lai - April 18, 2004 10:59 AM (GMT)
I agree with ya Quad... hehe...
Ah_M - April 21, 2004 10:06 AM (GMT)
Suggesting Twins is purely for entertainment value, not expecting great things (or singing) :P

new one new one
called "ella koon". here's what i posted on her in the other forums:
Anyone heard of Ella Koon? She plugged a song not too long ago as a newcomer and it has stayed on the top 20 on HK charts for weeks and weeks. pretty impressive for someone others have not heard of at all ^ ^ I'll post the song but only after you read the other info about her.

Quadshock - is the Ella you speak of AKA Ella Koon? If so, she appears on the "Me?...We!" album with the song "Something Between Us". I think she's pretty decent - her voice is very pleasant and soothing.
Apparently, both Paul Wong and Jun Kung are helping/teaching her about composing and arranging music.
BTW, here's the 411 on Ella Koon as per "Me?...We!" liner notes: Multi-talented Ella was born in Tahiti but moved to HK at the age of two. Having studied in England she is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, English and French. Ella seemed destined for a career in music with such natural talent. Learning the piano and starting to sing from a very early age, she also later added guitar and drumming skills to her musical repertoire. She began a professional career in 2002 and has been busy working on her first album due for release in early 2004. |
that was someone's post from the hkvp forums. i was trying to argue that not all the newcomers suck lol. apparently the people there are all adults so i know pretty much nothign compared to them. interesting how much they can tell me though. So basically she knows 4 languages, can play a variety of instruments, can sing well, AND she's being trained by veterans (some of the most respected musicians in HK) on how to compose songs? sounds like a cantonese, female version of Jay Chou to me. I can't wait till she releases something
http://lui.onestop.net/ddddd.mp3^--- high-quality radio rip (i think) of her plugged song, called "on shore"
Ah_M - May 4, 2004 09:46 AM (GMT)
cool, that is pretty impressive, sure we'll hear a lot more of her. argh at school and don't have headphones with me to listen to the song ><

Hi Quadshock,
Here is a little for your signature...
I strongly hate Edison Chen + MC Yan for saying that.
At first, I still have a bit of respect left for MC Yan, but I lose it totally now from these 2 quotes.
Edison: Why is something automatically good if you copy America?
Reply: Why would he question that if that's what he does best in his music? In his latest album, every song is a straight rip-off from other American artists.
MC Yan: You're the same type of people...why do you put each other down? Look at yourself in the mirror. You don't need to rely on others. If you want to be strong, you need to stand strong.
Reply: He is the biggest loser I've ever seen, he copy/paste songs from american well know songs and now he is saying that "don't rely to others"! Also, by doing this, he is a form of put down to all of us, it makes chinese people seem MUCH less creative.
By the way, I saw this new music video from Edison, and I think that MC Yan is there. I don't know exactly which loser he is in the video, but I want to give a chop on all their throats to shut their mouths.
My point: I agree with what Edison and MC Yan both said, but they do NOT qualify to say that.
quadshock - May 6, 2004 05:47 AM (GMT)
who qualifies then? i do think LMF is different from enough mainstream western bands to be "unique". and yan was the head of LMF
none of the hk singers or bands are completely original; they all borrow from western artists. and in order to get the WORD OUT that they need to be unique, they need to catch attention. and in order to get that attention, they need to make a westernized song. even Yan admits afterward that some of the stuff he did for Edison's album was very similar to US artists' songs.
then again...what song have you heard that are similar to "h*m gah ling" and "WTF"? those are masterpieces in my opinion
