Title: Leaving Me, Loving You - So How Was It??
Description: really...how was it?

qhettocow - February 22, 2004 01:45 AM (GMT)
Did anyone get the chance to see this movie yet? How was it? How about some honest opinions here? :D It could be a crap movie, but you could still enjoy it very much. I.E I though Everyday Is Valentine had a below average plot, but I've still watched it over 5 times. Replay value is great for that movie.

Is it really as poignant as some say? Or is it just damn right bland??

Yes I have! To be honest, I was worried about it being dull after hearing about the storyline and it being in Mandarin. Also, would people apart from fans see it? But this movie is actually pleasantly surprising and has a tendency to make you feel all lovely inside.
If you’re a fan of either leads then you should enjoy this film a lot. I have to agree with most people’s opinion on this film - it’s BEEAAAUUUUUTIFUL!!! And the soundtrack is so nice. If you’re looking for an award-winning story and acting then this is probably not the right film (but it’s not the aim anyway). The story is very simple (hence ‘small matters’ in the title I guess); it doesn’t try to be clever or exaggerate anything, definitely a breath of fresh air. But there does seem to be problems with the storyline, some things don't seem to connect but not sure what, will have to give it another viewing. Everything and everyone looks so perfect in this film (great clothes too!), Leon smiles a lot in this movie so it’s probably worth watching for that :D and I think out of all the films he’s done, he looks best in this. And Faye, who I am not particularly fond of, looked really pretty and I prefer her a lot more in this compared to the Legendary Ranger (she is too modest about her acting skills!). Acting is all very natural, no outrageous requirements, very everyday-like and plenty of cute scenes that’ll make you smile.
I really have to congratulate and respect Leon & the team for spending time and effort into making this film, it just shows how serious he is about his work and is willing to take sacrifices - an artist who shows hard work is not measured by how many albums or movies are released in a year! Will definitely buy the soundtrack and DVD of LMLY! :D

Well the film is finally released in HK today but can only order from YesAsia on the 13th :( Anyway, I strongly advise you to get the special version DVD because it is packed with goodies! (But I guess you were going to anyway :P) There's a photo book, Leon & Faye autograph, postcards with all versions of the poster and some DVD special features of course. That question can now be answered; yes, there is a Cantonese version! And we have Mark Lui, Nicola Cheung, Jim Wong and Anthony Wong (I think!) providing the voices. A fan has commented that the Cantonese version sounds a bit weird and not as good as the Mandarin especially Faye but it might be due to her getting so used to the original.
*Must...get my...hands on it...NOW!!*

mark lui is in it? wow he did a lot...the music...stuff...=0

only dubs the canto version, and the cute thing is it's for the guy who plays leon's friend :)

qhettocow - April 10, 2004 10:55 PM (GMT)
so i will be watching the movie once in mandarin and the 2nd time in cantonese. har. :)

qhettocow - April 12, 2004 02:35 AM (GMT)
actually, the dub is in fact - leon's and faye's actual voices. they did the dubbing for their own parts, while Mark Lui and Nicole Cheung did the dubbing for the other 2 female counterparts. :) So that makes me super happy.

And dang....the title does fit the storyline. It is a big city with a small matter. This is definitely not for people who wants some love-epic or slapstick comedy. But it's very real and I guess, that's what leon was striving for. :)

I've seen the Canto ver. I think Mark Lui and Nicole Cheung sound very good^^ But I think the dub is a bit strange when Faye is hitting our Leon, maybe the original one is too cool
