Title: Movies first, music later?

Recently, Eric Tsang commented on all the actors in Infernal Affairs and said this about Leon (thanks to Jip Jip @ LeonFansWorld.com for translating):
| QUOTE |
| Eric Tsang thinks that Leon is very talented, like a horse that can run thousands of miles, with a lot of skills (talents) yet to be discovered by others. Peter Chan understands his potential very well; he lets Leon try totally different casts such as the role in Comrades, Almost a Love Story. From Eric's viewpoint, he believes that Leon has spent too much time on his music; if one cares too much about his image, then he/she will limit his choices on trying out different casts. He hopes that Leon stops all his CD productions for a while and concentrates on acting when his movies are shooting, then his performance will turn out to be very well. |
What do you guys think?
Although I'd like to see more people recognise Leon as a good actor, I can't take another music-less year like 2003!!! Sadly, he does take a long time with albums these days.

I think Leon should do what comfortable with him. Right now i think Leon like to act, as long as there come out a CD this year.

i think one album a year isn't too much to ask; other times can be spent on movies. Then maybe a concert every two years, and I'd be happy =)

yeh i think he's more encouraged to do movies these days as well due to his breakthrough winning the Golden Horse Best Actor~
but most of his fans would prefer him producing more music, at least 1 album a yr~ been waiting sooo long~ ;)

Well i think it doesn't really matter which one he's doing as long as he's doing something. As long as Leon keeps doing movies/making music i'm sure his fans will be happy :)

I still want Leon to do both...I may never see him in concert; but dvd/cds work just fine for me...

On year 1999 Leon release so many CD without any movie... the atmosphere is very hot, where he still can perform on stage through his live concert. I think it's a very cheerful moment to me as Leon's fan.
On 2002-2003 whenever he gave too much attention on his movie & released no CD, the atmosphere is totally different. It's felt like I dunno where is Leon that time... felt like I lost him & he hiding himself behind the movie screen. It's totally a boring moment to me... miss him alot.... until I need to find someone else as my temporary favourite stars (e.g. F4 boyband) to forget my "loss on Leon".
Then after Leon came back with LMLY OST & LEON DAWN, the world felt like "gosh, I juz get back my life!!"
As conclusion, I prefer Leon as a singer. As a singer, Leon can go close with fans, perform infront of us as himself - the real Leon Lai. An actor just perform behind screen & can't get closer with fans. When playing movie, he perform as other peoples character, not himself.
With songs, u can go international easily (language isn't a barrier)... for example Leon can perform in World Cup OST 2002 & later Olympic Games Beijing 2008. Leon will go no-where with movies. The progression took time to be international level - if u are really lucky!! For example, no matter how good Chow Yun Fatt in Hong Kong, I didn't see mush interest to other international peoples to accept him... see... where is he now?!! Not many foreigner people cares.
As for Jackie Chan, he can go to international not becoz of he is just an actor, but he depend to his martial-art & stunt-action - the ticket where he can sell his movie to foreigners. And again.... music can unite peoples... that is the only thing movie can't do!!
This is my opinion. B)

I will say that I prefer he does more musics than movies, although he obviously can manage to do both at the same time. I am sure it will be great surprises for all his fans. :2thumbsup:

He sure can manage both, last year he worked on 2 movies and 1.5 albums - Leon is one of the very few artists in HK who can do both and still be very successful :)
