Can you expand on your experience of a Page 3 girl kiss-and-tell?
It's definitely something that I didn't like happening but to be honest with you, I didn't really care. And neither did my family or friends, who are the only people whose opinion really matters to me.

And what did Granny Feehily think about it?
I don't know. But to be honest, my family know not to take something the papers print at face value. They don't pick up a paper and say "Oh gosh, I can't believe he's been doing that!" They call me and ask. They're a very cool and protective family.

Does it make you wary of meeting girls?
I always knew there were people like that out there, but unfortunately I put my trust in someone I thought wasn't like that. To be honest with you, there was some truth in the story but a lot of it was made up, like the age - even the picture wasn't of a person I remember meeting.

The headline said, 'Mark Feehily Has Little Wheehily.' Any comments?
Not really. Once again, I don't really care about it.

You've been linked to members of Louis Walsh's other bands - Kathy Bellefire for one. Are you guilty of conducting public relationships as publicity stunts?
I don't go around bragging about what I've done and I certainly don't go around making up stories. I knew all the Bellefire girls pretty well cos they were from Ireland and everything, and they were very nice girls. But the only member I've ever really spoken to one-to-one was Kelly on the phone.

And would you like to explain the Nicola Girls Aloud incident?
Oh, someone said one of Girls Aloud fancied me. I reckon they're an alright bunch of girls, although not really my type. Erm... I like quieter girls, they're all a bit feisty and bossy, ha-ha! But our band isn't about that kind of thing - making up stories. I'm not one of those who likes to play the whole press game.

According to documents in our possession you're scared of birds?
It's true that I have a phobia.

All kinds of birds?
Well, birds as in the animals, not girls. I don't like being around them but I think they're really gorgeous creatures. If one were close, I'd be really wary cos I've seen Alfred Hitchcock's film, The Birds and I've seen what they can do to humans. I definitely have a phobia but I can't explain it.

So they get you in a real flap?
If I were locked in a room with a load of birds I'd probably have a panic attack and black out. I see people in Trafalgar Square with their arms outstretched and birds on them, and I simply couldn't do that. I'd die on the spot. If there were a bird in this room I would freak. I don't mind pet birds, but it's just the wild ones - you don't know what they're going to do, they could fly straight at you!

The court of TOTP hears you've been guilty of waxing your chest.
No, never! I've cut hairs off the top cos I don't like to see a big hand of hair creepy crawly style coming out my top.

We've seen evidence of dabbling with blonde locks. Why?
Well, the blonde thing was only for a video shoot but I ended up keeping it for a few weeks, I suppose. I got more attention from the girls when I was blonde but I don't think they actually liked it. I didn't have time to get roots or anything cos I got rid of it so quickly. I prefer being brown haired cos I've got big eyebrows and the blonde thing just looked silly!

You've been accused of churning out ballads. What's wrong with techno dance tracks?
Well, even though I have nothing against techno dance tracks, it's probably something we'll never do in our whole of our career. What people have to understand is that we're not responsible for a lot of our music. We work with a lot of producers and while we are responsible for the vocals and we write some of our material, we're not responsible for 90 per cent of our music. At the end of the day our A&R guy (artist and relations) is more responsible for our music than we are.

Now tell us about your manager Louis Walsh. Apparently he's said Bryan and Shane are turning out amazing stuff and they're the only ones with long-term futures. Are you gutted?
To be honest, that wasn't really said against anybody. I remember when that came out and we were the first people who asked him, "What's the story with that quote?" I do believe that Bryan and Shane will turn out really great stuff - and even if Louis turned around to me and said "Oh, you're crap," I would say, "Thanks, but that's just your opinion."

We put it to you, Mark Feehily, that you will go to any lengths to crack America.
Definitely not. We've been offered a lot of things but we've turned them down cos we just felt like we weren't willing to sacrifice certain things. If we don't do it this time, then we'll probably say, "OK, we'll leace it for the time being." It's not like we're stopping everything and trying to break America cos even though it's important territory, it's not the only territory. We still have lots to do.

OK then, is there anything else you'd like to add in your defence?
We're willing to work very hard and take all the opportunities that come to us. We're vocalists and that's what we like to concentrate on, but people need to stop taking things in the paper as the truth. Sometimes they are true and sometimes they're not. If I want to live my life as a normal person, I've got to ignore things. I'm not going to stop going out and having a good time.

You've got one last chance, Feehily. Have you lied at all during this interview?
Yes, quite a lot, ha-ha!

Mr Mark Feehily, the jury find you guilty and boy, you're looking at doing some hard bird. You're sentenced to 324 hors of community service, poop-scooping Trafalgar Square with a toothpick.

Just checking: Are the both of you really still single?
Mark: Yep!
Kian: Me and Mark both still enjoy being single.

So you ain’t looking for Miss Right yet?
Mark: I’d really like to find a girl who I really care for and have a serious relationship with. When I look at Bryan, Nicky and Shane I see how great that can be. But I’m scared to be open for that yet. What if I found out too late that she only wants me because I'’ famous! I’m really scared to get hurt.
Kian: I’m not desperately looking for a girl, But if it happens to be that I find ‘the girl’tomorrow, I’d go for it.

Which types do you go for?
Mark: My dream woman is as sexy As Britney and Angelina Jolie together, and has the personality of the girls I meat in my hometown Sligo. Further I like brunettes with browned skin and a Spanish accent.
Kian: I like brown hair, brown eyes and white teeth. Although, I also like the Scandinavian type. Blonde, blue eyes and the whole year a fresh look. You know what, until I haven’t found the one I can’t say what’s my type actually.


Do you date fans?
Mark: If a gorgeous fan asks me out and I don’t have anything better to do… yeah, why now?
Kian: It depends on what kind of fan she is. If her walls are completely filled with my pictures, I don’t think I’d go out with her. That’s scary!
Mark: I don’t want complete mental groupies either.

Suppose: You’ve just had a great date with a gorgeous fan. Afterwards you hear she also went out with Justin of *n Sync and Nick Carter. What do you do?
Kian: Obviously she’s a starfucker. So I’d immediately dump her, of course!
Mark: Id it’d happen to be I wanted to have sex, I’d still shag her. She only wants to use me because I’m famous, so she doesn’t respect me. Do I need to respect her then?

What should a girl do to impress you on a first date?
Mark: Erm.. I do know what she shouldn’t do: ask a lot of questions. Some girls or so straight with that, they ask already with the first date how many girlfriends I’ve had! That’s just not relaxed.
Kian: If she’s got a good sense of humour and is a good dancer, she’ll come pretty far.

What does your ideal date look like?
Mark: First go to a bar and then go somewhere to dance.
Kian: If she’s really special for me, I’d take her a weekend in a log-cabin with a open hearth. Then we’d first go having a snow fight outside in the snow and then we’ll go inside for a dinner with red wine. I’m a marvellous Italian cook!

What do you think of having sex on a first date?
Mark: It’s probably better not doing it, but if you both want it, then why should you wait? Sometimes it just feels right.
Kian: I agree with Mark here, ha-ha!

And what if she’d say she’s still a virgin?
Mark: Then I’d be shocked and become very nervous. Then I’d be the one who gives her the first experience with sex. You never forget you’re ‘first time’, so I’d try really hard to make it as good as possible for her.
Kian: It’s quite scary for boys to make a girl lose her virginity . She feels very vulnerable , so you easily do something wrong. So I’d first ask her if she really is ready for it. And I’d take care of the fact that she’d feel at ease with me.

Suppose: A gorgeous girl wants a threesome with you two?
Kian: No way!
Mark: I’d never want a threesome with another fella. But having sex with two girls, yeah baby, man that’s my dream. I think that’s the dream of every man.

What can you give girls more than your looks?
Mark: I’m really kind and always positive. How bad the situation is, I’ll always look on the bright side of live. If there is a time I have a bad mood, I’d just take care of the fact she doesn’t see it.
Kian: You can have a laugh with me. I’m also very sensitive and I’m very good at listening to you.

And of course you’ve got loads of money!
Kian: I earn enough money to have an extravagant lifestyle. I easily spend 200 pounds on a coat and I give a lot of presents. But most of my money I safe and I don’t buy ridicules expensive things I don’t really need. Girls shouldn’t think they can pee on a toilet seat of gold, ha-ha!
Mark: Money is nice, but it’s not the most important thing in life. By the way, my girl should know they’re also the opposite and less nice side: She needs to miss me a lot.
