Title: Interview with Kerry's Mum

Here's the intervew with Kerry's mum from reveal magazine

'I'll get over my breakdown for the sake of my babies'
Kerry Katona has vowed she'll do whatever it takes to get over her breakdown - and she'll do it for her girls, reveals her mum, Sue

While Many stars are halk-heartedly pledging to curb their partyinh, or quit smoking, Kerry Katona's new year resolation is as simple as it is heart-rending: to pull through a devastating breakdown for the sake of her two young daughters, Molly and Lilly-Sue.
In an emotional intervbiew with reveal, her mother, Sue Katona, speaks for the first time about her daughter's anguish. Kerry's been too poorly to look after her children, but she knows she has to beat this so she can be with them again, says Sue. 'She is devastated, but she said to me: 'I'll get better for my babies'.
Kerry, 24, was admitted to a private clinic last month after she was diagnosed as suffering from an acute nervous breakdown. This was the final chapter in what had become a year of heartbreak for Kerry after her husband, Brian McFadden, ended their two-year marriage in September.
Kerry and their two daughters, Molly, three, and Lilly-Sue, 23 months, moved out of the couple's home in Malahide, Ireland, and now live 10 minutes away from Sue in her hometown of Warrington, Cheshire.
After her initial distress, it looked as if Kerry was on the way to piecing together her broken heart. But despite recent pictures of a seemingly happy Kerry, complete with new look and - briefly - a new relationship with her ex, model dan corsi, Sue reveals her daughter hasn't really got over Brian, 24.
'At First Kerry put on a brave face and went out partying to show everyone that she was fine, but last month it all got too much', says Sue. 'She said to me, "i can't keep pretending everything's ok when it's not. I've tried to be strong. I've tried to get on with my life - i've tried to get a new man and i just can't pretend that i'm ok. I don't know what to do and how it's ever going to get better".
'Kerry worships Brian and would get back with him tomorrow. She said "Maybe if i do something different Brian will fancy me again"> That was the real reason she went from blonde to brunette'.
Sue, 44, has had to watch helplessly as her daughter struggled to cope with the break-up. 'I saw the signs. The crying and the quietness and keeping things bottled up', says Sue. 'Kerry wasn't eating and has lost two stone. She keeps joking about her weight, saying she's been on the divorce diet, but i'm worried. I've pleaded with her not to lose any more weight. She'd say she was starving and then have a bite of something and say she's full - it's as if it's choking her to eat'.
Then Kerry's condition dramatically worsened at the start of Deember after she spent the day in Manchester with Brian and their children.
'Brian was performing a gig and wanted the kids to be there', says Sue. 'Kerry wasn't sure, but Brian wanted to see the girls. That night she came to my house and burst into tears. 'She saidL "I can't do it, Mum. I love him to bits. I can't keep seeing him. It kills me ".
'I didn't know what to do. You want to tell her it's going to be all right, but i couldn't. I gave her a hug and she was sobbing uncontrollaby. She ended up curled up in bed with me - it was like she was a baby again.
'The next day she was still in tears and it was like when they first broke up. She said to me: "Seeing Brian again broke my heart. I felt as if i was losing the plot. I know i can't make him love me, Mum, but i can't help it. I can't see him because it's just hurting me all the time". The problem is Brian has mentally moved on and wants to be friends with Kerry, but she can't at the moment.'
Kerry became even more distressed following a newspaper report claiming the pair were getting back together. Kerry, Sue and two family friends were staying at the Conrad hotel in Chelsea, London, while Kerry was filming a tv show nearby. Brian had been looking after Molly that day and they all aranged to meet up in the hotel bar.
'Nothing happened - they are certainly not getting back together', insits Sue. 'Brian joined us for a drink and we were all chatting, but Kerry was very quiet. It was killing her and you could see it all over her face - it was as if she was reminded of all the good times they spent together. She left and went to bed without saying a word.
Kerry spent the next week in London, but a final chance meeting with Brian was too much for her to bear.
Sue says 'I had a phone call from her best friend, Paul Huggins, who had been at the conrad hotel with her and Brian. He was devastated and said she'd had a breakdown. Kerry had phoned him in tears and begged him to come to her hotel room. Ehen he found her, she was hunched up, crying hysterically and shaking violently. He tried to speak to her, but she couldn't talk for crying.
'Paul was shocked - he'd never seen her like that before. It was then she admitted for the first time she couldn't carry on and needed help. He took her to see a doctor and it was only when he told her that she was having a breakdown that she realised how far it had got. She was told to go to hospital to be treated'.
Kerry spent the following two weeks in the priory clinic, which specialises in treating the rich and famous for depression. Her children went to stay with Brian and his parents in Ireland.
'It has done her a lot of good', explains Sue. 'She's been talking about her problems and says it has helped talking to strangers about things. She has also been exercising and doing kick-boxing every day. Doctors have put her on antidepressants and they are helping to pick her up. But Brian has been told to stay away'.
Sue is under no illusion about how long Kerry's recovery could take. 'After spending two weeks at the priory. Kerry came home for thr weekend, ' says Sue. 'She felt so much better and went shopping for a new bed for the house she's bought in Warrington. In the evening, she went to see Ronan Keating in concert, but when she came home, she has a severe panic attack.
'She said she woke up at 2am and was terrified because she didn't know what was happening to her. She said "My heart was thumping, my fingers were tingling, i honestly thought i was having a heart attack. I thought, this is it, i'm going to die".
'A friend who was staying with her called a nurse, who came round. Kerry knew she had tried to do too much. I think she was upset about buying a double bed - it made her think: "Who will i share it with?" She checked back into hospital the next day'.
Doctors suggested she get away for christmas and Kerry was invited on a 10-day holiday in Spain with I'm a ce,ebrity star and close pal Fran Cosgrave.
Now back in Warrington with Sue, Kerry is hoping that 2005 will bring more happiness than the previous year. 'At the moment, Kerry is taking one day at a time, focusing on getting well', says Sue. 'She's been through a hell of a lot and it's amazing that she's survived as much as she has - she will pull through, she just needs a little bit of help.
'I hope this time next year Kerry's happy - and if she does find someone else, it is someone who is genuine. I would love to see Kerry with someone like Dec from i'm a celebrity they get on really well together and i think she's got a real soft spot for him. She's also got a crush on Colin Farrell and almost fainted when he touched her knee at an awards cermony - but he's not right for her, either. But this is all still a long way off'.
'One thing is for sure, whoever she is with next will have to be right for the kids. They will always be her priority - i think she needs them as much as they need her at the moment. They are the reason i know Kerry is going to be ok'.
