Chapter 1: “It’s a Girl”

Yes! Yes! I will nicky oh my god! Gina screamed without hesitation. Nicky slipped the opal set ring on her manicured finger. He stood up from his bended knee and kissed her, his sparkly blue eyes slowly welling up with tears. “I love ye G more than anything in the world” he said tears streaming down his face. “I love you too nousey heehee” Gina said in her baby voice giggling with excitement “oh my god we’ve got to tell everybody” she grabbed the phone and frantically started to dial her sister’s mobile. Nicky took the phone off her and put it back on the receiver “Babe lets go and tell em in person!” he smiled “yea…”she replied pressing her lips on his, lovingly.

“Georgina? Are you ok in there?” the sound of Jade’s familiar voice brought her back 2 reality
“Im grand I’ll be out in a minute” she replied. This is it this is the day she said to herself as she reflected on the past 3 years, Nicky had proposed to her 3 years ago and now finally it was the big day. She opened the bathroom door and wiped her eyes,
“Gina? Have you been crying hun?” Jade asked
“I was just thinking about the past few years and how I thought we’d never get to this day, when nicky was ill I thought he wouldn’t make it and…” she struggled to finish as she burst into tears.
Anja comforted her “I know we all did but he’s fine now he’s doing great I know he’s not the nicky he used to be but its what the doctor’s expected you know that!” she replied.
“Mummy why you crying?” a little voice came from the bed behind her,
“Im just happy sweetie” Gina sobbed as she picked Hazel up and gave her a peck on the cheek.

***Flashback***

“Push! Come on u can do it sweetie!” Nicky smiled his hand glowing a shade of purple from the frantic squeezing of Gina’s hand.
“Aggggghhhhhhh! I cant… aggggghhh!” Gina screamed back at him “I hate you! Why don’t men have to do thiiiiiis!!”
Nicky ignored the comment “you’re gonna be a mummy in a minute babe… 1 last push ok? Just 1 last big push!” he told her.
“Agggggggggghhhh!” she screamed again pushing hard
“waaaaaawaaaaaa” a tiny voice squealed
“Congratulations it’s a baby girl” the nurse smiled
“See I told you, you could do it!” Nicky grinned kissing Georgina’s forehead
The nurse rubbed the baby “do you want to cut the cord, Nicky?” she asked he looked and Gina and nodded sweetly. He cut the cord and the nurse wrapped her in a blanket and handed her to the proud dad.
“She’s beautiful, just like her mummy” he beamed at her
Gina smiled sweetly “she’s got your little button nose” tears streaming down her face
“and your big beautiful eyes” he replied delighted. “ I’ll go and let everyone know” he walked out of the delivery room to the waiting room down the hall where Bryan, Shane and Gillian were sat.
“Nicky, Mate! Well?” Shane said standing up from his seat
“Im a dad! It’s a girl 7lb2oz looks just like her mum!” he replied grinning ear to ear
“Awh Congrats Nix!” they chorused together, Shane walked over to his bandmate to give him a big hug. Bryan and Gillian followed
“It’s ‘ard work nic im telling ye” Bry joked
“I’d better go an ring me mam and Gina’s too!” Nicky said still smiling he walked over to the payphone and dialled home
“Hello?” Yvonne answered
“Mam, its me Nicky!” Nicky replied
“Oh hi love, what’s up?” she said
“Everything!” he replied laughing
“son I don’t get what your saying?” she said confused
“You’re a Grandma! IM A DAD!” he yelled
“What! Congratulations!”
“it’s a girl 7lb2oz, 10:15 am” Nicky continued
“Georgina’s had the baby…a girl…10 this morning…”Yvonne shouted to everyone else in the house
“Awwwwwh congratulations, how’s Georgina doing?” she asked Nicky
“She’s grand, tired though, are ye coming down?” Nicky replied
“Yeah we’ll be right there sweetie…Bye love” she said
“Yeah bye” Nicky chuckled putting down the receiver and walking back into the delivery room where Gina lay hot and flustered.
“What’s her name then?” the nurse asked with a clipboard in her hand
“Hazel?” Gina said remembering the tragic death of a Westlife fan that died on the way to their Manchester concert in a car accident.
“Yeah!’ Nicky exclaimed looking deep into Gina’s Big blue eyes
“Any middle names?” the midwife asked
“Hazel Erin Marie Byrne” Nicky smiled.
