Vriishnak the Twisted - November 2, 2003 02:55 AM (GMT)
I'm in.
Vriishnak, Warrior of the Light
M5 WS7 BS6 S4(6) T3 W3 I8 A4 Ld10
White Tower Training
Vriishnak spent much of his early life learning the combat styles of the Swordmasters of Hoeth. Though he never learned how to use their double-handed sword, he has adapted the movements to his own agressive, two-weapon style of swordplay. Fighting with his identical, slightly curved longswords, he depends on his speed and precision to get through his enemy's defenses before they can react and cut him down.
Counts as the Swordmaster honour - 40 points, strike in initiative order with killing blow. Free great weapon.
Aggression
Vriishnak's style of fighting, throwing himself forward before the enemy is prepared, has won him many a fight where he would have been hopelessly outclassed. Using one blade to knock the enemy's weapon out of position, he attacks with the other in an attempt to finish the fight before they can retaliate. Even if he fails, he somehow manages to keep them from using their weapon to their best advantage.
Counts as Talisman of Saphery - 35 points, all magic weapons in base to base count as mundane.
Glossy Black Armour (sadly enough, I couldn't come up with anything better...any ideas?)
This ithilmar plate armour was forged by the finest of elven smiths, and is technically non-magical. However, when his enemies look into it, they find themselves losing the will to fight, staring at the worst things that they have encountered. This gives Vriishnak the opportunities he needs to end the fight quickly.
Counts as Armour of Heroes - 25 points, heavy armour. Enemies must pass a Ld test each round in order to attack.
Se7enalicious - November 2, 2003 02:56 AM (GMT)
i've never done anything like this before, i'd like to try though - count me as in if someone explains it to me :P
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 2, 2003 03:10 AM (GMT)
It's pretty simple. Assuming we're using standard rules, everyone creates a character with a max cost of 250 points. There's no shooting or magic, aside from bound items that can directly affect combat, and certain items are banned. Then Lord Chilipepa takes the stats, rolls the combats, and writes them up as a story. All in all a very fun time.
Paco - November 2, 2003 03:32 AM (GMT)
Khrangar - November 2, 2003 04:11 AM (GMT)
Kingphesphestus - November 2, 2003 05:25 AM (GMT)
Count me in, one question do we post the chracters here or at the other site?
Aesgareth - November 2, 2003 06:00 AM (GMT)
Hmmm. Since I'll probably be called upon to enter Vrath in Rezephua, I wonder if it would be honourable to enter a character for this site as well....
Aesgareth - November 2, 2003 06:01 AM (GMT)
Oh, to the abyss with it. I'll play both sides, as always. Count me in.
LordChilipepa - November 2, 2003 08:26 AM (GMT)
For Warhammer Palace people:
We have been making arenas for a long time, and therefore have developed a system of 'equalisers'. These give certain races who naturally perform poorly in AoDs a little boost, so as to make them even competitors. You should probably see these before you design your characters
The full rules for your characters can be seen here:

I forgot to put it in the original post (I just did). You can't play for both sides.
Don't worry, I won't feel bad if you choose to fight for them.
Aesgareth - November 2, 2003 05:59 PM (GMT)
Alright then. *shrugs* Original loyalties first, I guess. I look forward to meeting you all in the ring.
Paco - November 2, 2003 06:17 PM (GMT)
couple of questions....
first, i believe dark lord jim is over his pts limit..since its only 250
also to LordChilipepa, i visited the site and the one entry there by a Swordsalot has a mount with more then 1 wound...cause doesnt it say in your rules only mounts with one wound????
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 2, 2003 06:29 PM (GMT)

The 3 wasn't the wounds entry. Swordsalot's format has stat: number, with the previous stat's number directly beside the letter representing the next stat.
Also, vampires have a reduced point cost due to the mandatory magic levels included in their profile.
Paco - November 2, 2003 06:37 PM (GMT)
ahhh...ok...just when i see it as "3W" it looks like 3 wounds to me
Paco - November 2, 2003 06:55 PM (GMT)
so where is the arena results being posted here or there or both??/
Khrangar - November 2, 2003 07:16 PM (GMT)

Shield(2) - 6+ Armour Save
Mark of Khorne(35) - Frenzy and adds 1 Dispel Dice to pool
Rending Sword(40) - Each wound (after saves) becomes D3
Gaze of the Gods(30) - At the beginning of each fight, he'll roll a d6. on a 1, you get a 6+ ward, 2-3 it's 5+ and 4 or higher gives a 4+. It was changed to compensate for the fleeing disadvantage in a setting where there's no psychology or break tests. (For the arena)
Armour of Damnation(30) - Chaos Armour, Enemy re-rolls successful to hit rolls
Total Points: 237
Arch-Seer - November 2, 2003 07:54 PM (GMT)
Also, I think that it would be good if everyone does a quick look over Rezephua's common characters(Ecthelion, Tick'tok, and Bert).
I will submit a High Elf character to fight the growing number of skaven characters.

DLJ
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 2, 2003 11:28 PM (GMT)
A couple of comments on characters entered so far, as I want the Palace to win this thing. :D
Janus is a very good character and should take us far. Make sure you challenge well. ;)
Paco looks pretty good as well, but are you sure you want to spend 30 points on a one-use item that causes a T test and can be dispelled, especially when the majority of opponents will be T4 or 5? Aura of Quetzel's a good choice, but you might be better served by something that increases your S over the Burning Blade.
All up to you, but you'll be in trouble against vamps and other lizards, most likely.
Khrangar: Very nice. Are you aware of the altered rules on the Gaze of the Gods, though?
Prince Therion: Nice combo! :D Rerolling 4+ will be worthless in most fights, though. Also, with characters as similar as ours, we could run into some trouble if the Rezephua characters are strong against them...not telling you to change him or anything, just pointing out potential weaknesses in our team.
Hope we pull this out! :D

Talisman of Protection (6+ ward save)
Tell me what you think?
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 2, 2003 11:57 PM (GMT)
Eternal Servitude is good. Anything to have a save that isn't modified by enemy attacks. Watch out for flaming though, avoid it like the plague.
Chill Blade, on the other hand, probably won't do so well. How often is S4 going to wound a character completely designed for hand to hand? You'd probably do better with a sword of might or something similar. Generally, a Talisman of Protection won't do too much either, but it's definitely better than no ward at all.
LordCheez-your character needs a name and a description of what his items do.
Drauthnir - November 3, 2003 12:16 AM (GMT)
So a gauntlet has been thrown down in challenge to our forum? Our honour is at stake? Then I shall help to defend it. I'll have a character up and running tomorrow.

Here's Sylak:
Sylak, High Elf Prince
M:5 WS:7 S:4 T:3 W:3 I:8 A:4 LD:10
Sylak's right gauntlet is actually a twisted claw made from some sort of pulsing, black substance. When it strikes a target, it crackles and leaves the victim terrified of another strike.
Claw of Devestation(Wielder rerolls failed rolls to wound, and ignores enemy armour saves)
Sylak's armour is made of elven bone and dwarven muscle. It moves easily with it's master's strikes, but still protects from many harmful attacks.
Dragon armour, enchanted shield, Ithilmar barded steed(1+ armour save)(For fluff purposes, you do not need to include the steed)
Summary:
4, WS7, S4 attacks that ignore enemy armour saves and reroll fialed rolls to wound.

If you guys are interested, I have a character for you. Now, I'll admit that I would have preferred to fight on the Rezephua side, but I've been gone for three days and it filled up while I was away.
So I think the only logical punishment for them not assuming I would have entered is to enter on your side instead. So, if you want it:

Vriishnak the Twisted - November 3, 2003 10:56 PM (GMT)
I believe Xaos brings us up to 11 characters, 12 when Drauthnir puts his in. It's really amazing how elf-dominated out entries are, compared to the Rezephua team.
Oh, and I *really* think Sylak should decline that challenge-no ward against someone with Killing Blow is just asking for it, trust me.
I hope Moonshadow doesn't mind that I've sort of stepped in to get the team organized and ready, sort of like Lord Chilipepa's done over at Rezephua.
