Title: HE vs WE
Description: 1k battle report

Tyrion - December 11, 2007 10:17 PM (GMT)
I didnt get to test my 1.5k list since my opponent didnt bring all his models so we played a 1k game instead and I used that list instead. My first battle report by the way!

The game was still a close call and still vs WE, he had something in the lines of:

Noble: HoDA

10 archers
8 dryads
5 scouts
5 glade riders

6 wardancers
3 treekin

6 waywatchers

Pretty much what Iīd expected.

My list:

High elves 1000p

Mage: level 2, ring of fury 175p

15 Spearmen: standard, musican, warbanner 170p
10 archers: 110p

14 White lions: standard, champion, banner of sorcery 209p
5 Dragon princes: 150p
5 Shadow warriors: 80p

Repeater bolt thrower: 100p

Total: 994p

PD: 4 + D3
DD: 3

1st turn
My archers showed that they could go up against the woodies in a shoot out despite losing first turn and half my archers to the combined effort of the glade guard, scouts and glade riders. In retaliation I killed 5 of their numbers with my archers and RTB and sent them running, leaving his noble in the open.

My dragon princes advanced from the left flank, none beeing felled by the waywatchers arrows. On the other flank the shadow warriors crept out from their hiding place and dropped a wardancer dead in his tracks. Magic left me with the spearmen protected by the shield of saphery and failed to cast flames of the phoenix.

2nd turn
The glade guard rallied and the general took up good shooting positions. The glade riders advanced towards the shadow warriors newly emerged from their hiding place. His treekin advanced with the wardancers seeking cover behind their bulky bodies and dryads running next to them. The noble took aim at the bolt thrower but managed to get only 5 hits, still killing a crewman. Phew! His waywatchers manged to fell a dragon prince with a killing blow arrow and one of the shadow warrior was downed from a hail of arrows from the glade riders.

The dragon princes got into position to wipe out the remaining archer the following turn. White lions went through a forest to threaten the glade riders flank and the spearmen advanced toward the dryads. Magic saw the spearmen protected yet again by a magical field and the flames of the phoenix burned 4 dryads to matchwood! The ring of fury along with the shadow warrior archery made sure that only one of their numbers survived (only got 4 hits!) and he fled. 3 archers took aim at the noble but none hit home. 3 bolt thrower arrows hit the noble but to no avail! Surely he was protected but some vile godess of the forest!

3rd turn
The waywatchers charged the dragon princes in the flank. The wood elf combat troops got worringly close to my missile base with the treekin charging the archers and the scouts hid in a nearby tower. Now he concentrated what was left of his missile troops to take out my bolt thrower but couldnt kill it. The close combat saw my dragon prince kill 2 waywatchers before they could strike and they felled one dragon prince in return. Still the dragon princes won the combat, and while the waywatchers stayed firm, the arrogant dragon princes could get more of their numbers into combat. The stand and shoot was to no use and neither was the attacks and the remaining archers were brutally butchered and run down.

The spearmen responded by charging the dryads, passing their fear test. The missile troops held firm as the white lions and shadow warriors started to move towards the rear of the WE army. The magic phase saw the shield still protecting the spearmen while flames of the phoenix and the ring failed. The RTB took aim once more, 2 hits and still nervous from the previous roundīs of failiure I cast the dice, 2 wounds and the noble went down! In combat the dragon princes managed to wipe out the remaining waywatchers while the spearmen failed to kill even one dryad while losing 4 of their numbers despite the 5+ ward. Still won the combat by one but the dryads refused to flee!

4th turn
The remaining glade rider charged the RTB and both the treekin and wardancers made it towards the spearmen flanks...The scouts killed another shadow warriors but they would not run. Magic phase was yet again a failiure apart from the shield of saphery. In the combat phase the glade rider was too much for the lone crewman to handle and perished. The spearmen fared better, felling a dryad with only dead spearman in return. The dryads fled a mighty 10” but were still run down! This made the spearmen to run away from certain doom and leaving the treekin and wardancers stand there looking dumb.

In the high elf turn the dragon princes charged the reamaining archers taking no wounds from stand and shoot. The spearmen charged the remaining glade rider to avenge the RTB, this made them come even further away from the dangereous WE close combat troops. The lions got to better magic sniping positions and the shadow warriors held firm for a better chance of hitting the scouts. Magic saw both the ring and flames of the phoenix go off against the treekin, neither doing damage. The shadow warriors manged to snipe down a scout from the tower.

The dragon princes easily butchered the archers and overan into the wardancers. The last glade rider was easily disposed of and the spearmen overan into safety.

5th turn
Seeing that the treekin would never reach the spearmen, they held firm. The scouts did manage to fell a white lion out of spite. The combat phase saw a total incompetence to roll dice from my part and the last two dragon princes were felled, heads rolling...

The spearmen turned around. No magic went through and a single scout was yet again shot down from the tower. Surely the asur showed that they are amongst the finest archers in the world!

6th turn
The only thing my opponent could do was to run and try to hide, which didnt go so well.

My magic phase was uneventful and resultet in zero dead asrais. Even the shadow warriors missed and with that the battle was over!

Final result: Minor victory to the high elves!

Enjoy :).
