Title: Nemesis Crown
Description: Whos doing what?
Burro Boskov - July 16, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
I was wondering about this, as there has been no topics about it on the Palace to my knowledge.
If you answered Wuhh?, this little link might
help.
I said A, as I plan to do a few games in the Oxford GW, and when Thragka comes to visit, we can hopefully do some battles too, but I won't be going over the top such as some of the guys at Bugmans.

my local store isn't participating, but I'll be able to do some battles in august with some friends.
@ztech - July 17, 2007 01:06 PM (GMT)
Just watching.
I'd love to participate, but my Warhammer gang was pretty much scattered when we graduated, and I'm not even sure my old friends are still interested. I haven't played a game for over a year now. :(
Tyrion - July 17, 2007 02:51 PM (GMT)
Just watching. Would love to participate but my summerjob prevents me from playing during the summer, but Iīll be back in buisness after the summer. Still looks like itīs a cool campaign. Really enjoy reading the weekly updates for all the races :).
Burro Boskov - July 17, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
Where do you find those updates, I can't find them. -_- :unsure:

I dont know wether or not you have to be a registered user or not, but there is a list on the left side of the page with all the races of the warhammer world. Click on any and they all have a weekly udpdate :).

That looks pretty good for Bretonnia up to now. :)
| QUOTE (Week 2 Report) |
| The Bretonnians victories have earned them not only honour, but the eternal gratitude of the populace. There are those in the southernmost towns and villages of the Great Forest who whisper that the proud men from over the mountains might make for kinder, more honourable lords than do the burgomasters and petty officials who do little more than tax them to within an inch of poverty. |
The desillusion will be painful.
Tyrion - July 18, 2007 01:57 PM (GMT)
Pretty much that the good guys are all the way at the top. Mostly new armies like empire, dwarfs, woodies etc. along with with the powerhouse army bretts.
Thragka - July 22, 2007 12:50 PM (GMT)
I can't honestly pick "Leading my race to Victory" for another week or so. But then we'll see, Burro ... oh yes, we'll see ...
Truth is, I don't plan on participating too much. I only have too opponents I could possible play during the campaign, so I don't expect to change the tide of history that much.
@ztech - July 22, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Do the events of such campaigns have an influence on the history of the Warhammer world? And if the Bretonnians continue winning games and making Imperial regions submit to their rule (since this is after all their actual objective), will the map of Bretonnia really be re-drawn?
gandalf - July 22, 2007 08:58 PM (GMT)
I dont think anything as drastic as that will occur, I think GW have learnt after SStorm of Chaos that massive changes to the Warhammer World won't work, I suspect anyone on the good side will simply destroy the crown (whether it be by themselves or handing it tto the Dwarves/High Elves, maybe even lizardmen who are the arces most capable of destroying the artefact) or take it and try to unravel its secrets to use against everyone else, which could result in another campaign or GW simply leaving it as a one day.... kinda event for the future like the Skaven bomb underneath Middenheim.

Even if GW were being completely fluid/open-minded with the future of the game's 'history', that wouldn't make sense. The Empire can't afford to allow more provinces to cede painlessly from its rule, after Marienburg, and any real war between Bretonnia and the Empire is going to end with a lot of burning castles and bullet-riddled knights.
Tyrion - July 23, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah, maybe some of the fluff will change, but not much. Still fun to follow the campaign although it is pretty clear that the good side wil win, just like in the storm of chaos campaign.
@ztech - July 24, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
They can't really make evil win without changing the background a lot...
When the forces of good win, they've earned a short respite. Not much of a change in the general history. But if the forces of evil happened one day to win, though, it would be like Malekith conquering Ulthuan, or Archaon burning Altdorf to the ground, or Nagash turning the Old World into a zombie-filled wasteland. That would require a lot of changes to the Warhammer world.
Tyrion - July 24, 2007 11:29 AM (GMT)
One has to keep in mind that many players use the races with the newest armybooks, that would be: woodies, dwarfs, empire and O&G. Then look What races are at the top 5 places in the campaign right now :P .
Burro Boskov - August 8, 2007 09:43 AM (GMT)
Well the campaign ended 3 days ago. My final tally just broke even, 5-1-4, which I am happy about.
Slightly annoying is the way Games Workshop slacks of on deadlines.
In White Dwarf's leading up to the event, it said it would end on the 6th, then the next month, the 5th. Then it claimed all the end stuff would be done by the 10th, but now the website claims it will take till the 17th.
Damn Gav and his tardiness. On a side note, Gav has put on some pounds!

He's not upped prices again, surely?
(cheap shot I know, but can you really blame me?)

Huzza for Dwarven Valor!
Or,
the final fluff is up. As always, nothing has changed, and GW has given themselves a chance to do the EXACT same thing again in a couple summers.
This being my first online campaign, I thought it went well. Sure it was quite easy to cheat, (and I'm sure a lot of people did.) but I had a good time, and knowing that I was a part of it, (even if just a statistic) isn't so bad.
What does everyone else think about the fluff/campaign as a whole?
Burro Boskov
@ztech - August 10, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
Congratulations to the Dwarfs. To Bretonnia, too. ;)
'Twould be nice next year to have a campaign centered around the undead. It's more than time that Nagash actually did something.
Tyrion - August 12, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
Would have been nice if grimgor would have done something more than just lumber of chasing after his army. Same with Vampire Counts, feels like they were there just to get some more zombies before setting of to Sylvania.
The dark elves had the coolest fluff in this campaign. That the dwarfs would win was pretty obvious from the start. Also, still nothing new about the returning of the phoenix crown to the high elves.
bigbeewolf - August 12, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
I can see that despite my vain hope that GW might actually allow the events of this campaign effect the Warhammer world...everything gets to remain the same. Obviously I can understand the effort required for a large scale change would be significant, but wasn't this a world-wide campaign, loads of people taking part...lots of money spent on new models etc? Surely they could of come up with a better ending than that?
And maybe it's because I'm just bitter that the greenskins didn't walk off with the crown...but am I the only person who's noticed that they're now ignoring Warhammer rules for the sake of fluff? Come on! Grimgors entire army routed by the screams of a goblin. whatever happened to "ignore greenskin panic"? :huh:
@ztech - August 12, 2007 08:58 PM (GMT)
In a campaign, I think the fluff is more important than the rules.
But I agree on one point: worldwide campaigns like this one should have at least some influence on the Warhammer world in general. Not necessarily big changes, of course, but a few little modifications would be nice.
The way they avoid having to make changes is sometimes just ridiculous. Look at the Storm of Chaos, for example: Grimgor knocks Archaon down in a duel... then declares: "Grimgor is da best." And he takes his army and leaves. Grimgor sparing someone's life for no reason at all? And Archaon not mustering his armies to pursue and kill that insolent Orc? Doesn't make any sense...
Thragka - August 12, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
Games Workshop is not very good at that sort of fluff. This is an established fact by now. I didn't really like the end of the Nemesis Crown. Once the crown is taken, the bad guys get their respective arses handed to them by the good guys. Maybe it's just a greenskin player's pride, but ... come on! Suddenly the orcs and beastman are being slaughtered everywhere! It's just too much of a high fantasy, happy-clappy, hurrah for the forces of light ending for me to like.
KingTut - August 29, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
I dont know about you but i didnt see anything pertaining to any army that wasnt a dwarf man elf or orc.
Burro Boskov - August 29, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Dat's cuz Settra got p'wned by a couple of Wizards/Brettonians/BikerMiceFromMars, In you skeleton boats.
Word!

Tyrion - August 30, 2007 02:50 PM (GMT)
