Title: Warbands vs. Border Patrols

It's only now that I discover that there are two sets of rules for small games of 500 points or less: the rules for warbands and the rules for border patrols. There are differences, like the kind of units you may have, the minimum unit size and some rules regarding characters.

I opened this topic to discuss the rules for small games. Which set of rules do you use when you play under 500 points? Which one do you prefer? Etc.

I've only ever used Warbands. I like the scaled-down feel of it. I think Border Patrol is just like a small game of Warhammer with added restrictions and that it doesn't have enough changes to make it interesting.

Border Patrol was originally meant to be a game of warhammer, that you could play in 40 minutes, much like the 40K version, 40K in 40 Minutes.

Since whenever I play a game I'm not restricted to time I make time for it, warbands are usually the way I play, and are the only way I have played 500 or smaller games.

It gives you alot of good options, specifically the handoff between uber hax character or more troops.

Basically, if this was apole, I would vote Warband.

I prefer the border patrol rules, makes for some really fun and exciting games using the core rules of the game. While beeing somewhat flawed, the rules are still good :).
