Title: POTM: Ever participated to a tournament?
Description: Or several, for that matter.

Have you ever participated to one or several tournament(s)?

Here's how it works: if you've participated to all three kinds of tournaments in this poll, answer D. Always answer the 'highest' kind of tournament you've ever been to.

Personally I've never been to a tournie, and I wouldn't go even if I had a free ticket. It's just not my style. I prefer playing single games with a few close friends.

I´ve attended a couple of tournaments at my local gaming club. One was a border patrol tournament and the other was like 1250p or so :).

Yes, I have been to two official Hall of Heroes Tournaments already this year and I am going again in the beginning of August.

I'm answering C, even though I have been to all three types of tourney. The only GW event I've been to was Conflict London, but I consider the standard of generalship, sportsmanship and organization to be several degrees lower to the independent tournaments that I more regularly attend. The Cardiff Carnage, Portsmouth Pillage, Weymouth Waaagh and BritCon are the main independents I have attended, all between 2000 and 2750 pts. I really enjoy tournaments, I think that they are the pinnacle of our hobby!

Cheers,
DLJ

Although not through lack of attempt, I have never attended any official tournement. You all know King Tut and I were planing to go to the doubles thiso year, but didnt realise the demand for tickets. We will definetly try again next year though.

I answered B. The places I live I am lucky to get any one who plays, but when I do, I usually play regularaly with them, and on occasion have very small tournies (4 people)

I've been to several tournaments hosted by local shops along the north-western coast of QLD, but I've yet to get around to going to an official one. Once I settle into Sydney, that may be easier to accomplish.

These unofficial tournaments were supported by GW- if the system had existed at the time, they'd have been Rogue Trader tournaments.

I second Jim's opinion.

I went to Conflict London and it was a fun day out; no regrets, it was a great thing to do. But, (and no insult aimed to the younger members of Warhammer Palace) it was very much aimed at the younger members and felt a bit 'youth club') In comparison, Portsmouth Pillage and Cardiff Carnage, have real seasoned players, people in there thirties, forties and older... real 'veterans'. I think this older generation thing is very cool. I met one chap at Cardiff who (over the years) has acquired almost one of every army type... its fascinating to meet this kind of player... the GW events seem to be more an extension of the 'shop' for hooking in new blood... which is great too but at club tournies you meet real 'vets' and 'fanatics'... which I enjoy.

Will put together the Herald soon with a report of Cardiff Carnage 06... there I met a Warhammer family! Mum, Dad and Son were all playing, individually, in the tournament and their home is dedicated to Warhammer, with a permanent Games Room!!! lol

Club tournaments are a great day out.

Burp!

I am another player to share the same opinion as DLJ. I much rather the non-GW run events to the GW events. Although the non-GW events I have been to mostly consist of what was known as the WPS I did enjoy them more. I have been to a mostly student event known as the Student Nationals, which was run in Edinburgh this year and was a great laugh, although the quality of armies (as in painting) was not quite as high as I have seen at WPS events (although there were one or two lovely armies).
