Title: OOC: A Great Evil
LordChilipepa - May 29, 2007 01:07 PM (GMT)
As always, here is an Out Of Character thread for you. If you have any OOC comments to make longer than a line or so, please make them in here: if you do make an OOC comment in the game thread, please tag it with “OOC” at the start, and separate it from your IC stuff.
A couple of things: firstly, I know that some of you know things that your characters shouldn’t know about other characters, depending on how much you’ve read of the previous RPs. While I reckon I can probably trust you, I’m going to make it absolutely clear: if characters start divining other characters’ secrets through OOC knowledge, bad things will happen to them. In-party conflict is great fun if it’s played right, and wrecks the game if it’s done wrong. So if, say, Richter were to OOC-ly pick up on Emilie’s current state and build a big pyre, Khal-Tzaan will probably bless him with a mutation or two so that he can share it with her.
Second: I’m going to be introducing you all through various means – it’s not going to be the standard “all of you are hired by NPC X for job Y”. So I’m going to have to ask for your cooperation in trying to forge something like a group out of the survivors: I’m going to engineer your meeting each other, but I’m going to have to rely on you to display something of an intelligent interest in each others’ stories and to try and piece together the connections to give you a common cause. I really don’t want to be running nine different players on PMs. This is just a minor consideration, but one that would really help me out if all you players bore it in mind. Also, one or more of you may have a delayed introduction: if I haven’t contacted you about this, don’t worry, you’ll be being thrown in at the start.
I have taken the liberty of adding in some 'continuity' paragraphs at the end of your characters' backgrounds to tie them in with their previous adventure: apart from that, the non-rules sections of your character sheets are just copied-and-pasted from their old incarnations. If there's anything you want changed, PM me, email me or post here, and I will edit for you in a jiffy.
Here's a map of your rough location: you can see Backersberg up in the top right. If you have any questions, please ask.

With all that said and done, welcome to the beginning of the end – in which loose ends are tied up, mysteries solved, dark plots uncovered, and two very different people discover the drawbacks of being dead…

First off: Can I post in the OOC topic even though I'm not a player?
Excellent beginning, Chili. I love seeing all those characters becoming acquainted with each other. Now I only hope the PCs at Kurgan's Head just stay back and watch the bullies have their way with this b***ard of a wizard and his one-eyed friend. ^_^
But that won't happen, will it?
LordKjarl, I'm starting to wonder... Does it type a Y when you hit the J on your keyboard? :P

Sure y'can.

Are you implying there's some reason they should be suspicious of harmless old wizards and their trusty one-eyed companions? Shame on you, sir.

huh, i don't know... I always make that mistake with 'Jump', sorry hé ;) . But I have the excuse of having a serious case of dyslexion.
Goblit Skullhelm - May 29, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
Ahhhh, it begins again. It's good to have another RPG to get into, courtesy of the Chilimeister. I've kinda missed it. :P
EDIT: I feel like that post didn't really get the message of excitement across so well. Let me try again.
ZOMGZ TEH CHILI RPG I LUV U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111onehundredandeleven
Yup, that ought to do it.
Rogue-Gladiator - May 29, 2007 06:59 PM (GMT)
Heh, I just missed playing Dante... He's really the only character I've made thus far that I really can understand the mind of...
Should I be concerned that the only RP character I understand is a psychopathic blood-drinker?...
AND AWAY WE GO!
Vriishnak the Twisted - May 29, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
So should I be writing my own entrance or waiting for you to do it? Don't want to interfere with any carefully-laid plans. :)

Hey, given that my characters have been a psychotic, hallucinating war veteran and a suicidal assassin, respectively, I don't think you're the one with problems here...
LordChilipepa - May 29, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Bah, if I do this right you should all be more or less crazy by the end.
All your brains are belong to Tzeentch!
Benedictus - May 30, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
I have this fear of Chili getting his hands on the Call of Cthulhu or Unknown Armies RPGs...a fear...and a deep-seated hope.
Rogue-Gladiator - May 30, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
I'm hoping we get into combat soon-
*enemies jump out*
*One character suddenly rains a crapload of precision arrows on opponents in a sterotypical elf-like fashion, two characters open up with magic, and two characters use vampric speed and strength to rip opponents appart. Last two characters sit there and look normally human.*
Either that will happen of this-
*PCs Jump out*
*Daemon, Mages of Tzeentch, and creepy one eyed man kill us all. THE END*

Take off every Konrad! For great justice!
(Wait, remind me, was it Konrad who was the Tzeentchian traitor in The World's Edge?)

 As it should be.
Vriishnak the Twisted - May 31, 2007 03:26 AM (GMT)
Ugh - sorry about my delay here. Work was absolutely insane today, and I just have no energy left. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get home earlier and put something together.
Thragka - May 31, 2007 10:33 AM (GMT)
Ahhh ... it took me a while to figure out exactly what was going on in the tavern. Now I feel foolish.
Any bets for when Lothar's entrance will be?
Xarhain - May 31, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
I understand it's inevitable that I can't expect Aerandir to be played exactly how I would have, and I'm also very aware to the fact that the thread has only just started, but if I may offer a little advice LordKjarl?
Basically, Aerandir should be a lot more reserved and introverted. Not stroll into a bar and order a brandy type thing. Remember he's an outcast, has a huge disdain for humans, and knows full well they don't like him back. If you thought he was becoming less of the strong silent type near the end of TSB, that was only because circumstances had elevated to such dangerous levels, and he had grown semi-comfortable with those companions that were still alive. Walking into a new place, new humans, he's going to be very wary (which I note you have done) very quiet, and very observant.
That said, I do acknowledge I've handed him over, and I want you to feel he's your character. I just thought I'd give you a little help understanding him, but I'm sure that will come with time. Do let me know if you want any advice or suggestions on what he would do if there are any serious decisions he has to make, but like I said I'll always leave it ultimately up to you.
Good luck :D
Goblit Skullhelm - May 31, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
OK, before I can reply to Oswin, just need a quick question answered, seeing as the end of NOW's gone. :(
Did I chuck a fireball at him? Coz that'd obviously affect how I should be responding to seeing him for the first time since that night. :P

At Captain McCrazy when he burst into the church, Oswin was in the path and had to dive out of the way.
Benedictus - May 31, 2007 03:23 PM (GMT)
As I recall, Oswin was mighty pissed about that.
Goblit Skullhelm - May 31, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
Right y'are, cheers. One more thing: do I know you were in the Colleges? Sorry about this, NOW seems like so long ago and I've forgotten a few key details about the characters. =/

Indeed, I'm pretty sure he went for Matthias's throat.
Which makes it all the more suspicious that he would refer to him as a 'friend', now doesn't it?

Yes, after the first fight against the bandits you guessed Shadow College and he acknowledged that guess, asking for discretion.
Benedictus - May 31, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Although...technically you didn't ever get around to graduating. Are you actually Guild approved?

Who wants to know?

| “That’s an interesting opinion. As I remember, the last time this little band were together, I was almost burned to death. Or have you not noticed that they’re starting to outnumber us now?” |
Hey, I resent the implication of that statement!
Oswin was never part of the 'burn her' crowd. He only wanted to hand her over to Konrad, thank you very much.
Benedictus - June 1, 2007 09:14 AM (GMT)
And Barty never wanted to burn her! He was just keeping his options open. Hell, he was all for her retaining her power and position. More-or-less.

And I'm sure a pedantic defence like that is really going to reassure her.
LordChilipepa - June 1, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
Spire hits the nail on the head.
Hands up who tried to stop Wilfried burning her. I think that's Matthias, and Leio. Who's dead.
Goblit Skullhelm - June 1, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
Matthias does love his somewhat-overly-dramatic monologues. :P Admittedly I was a little early to throw one in there, but this is something like the 100th page of an RPG that he's been in, so really it works. ^_^

Bingo bango. I'm the good (naive?) guy :P
Benedictus - June 1, 2007 11:59 PM (GMT)
I did! My motives weren't entirely pure, but I did.
Rogue-Gladiator - June 2, 2007 05:43 AM (GMT)
Matthias is such a nice guy- I mean, first he defends Dante, then Emilie! If it weren't for him you guys wouldn't have thes etwo lovely blood sucking lil' monsters in your party! Shame on you all!
Oh, and Goblit, since Matthias is so nice, do you think he'd like to sign up as a blood donor?... I mean, for medical purposes of course.
LordChilipepa - June 2, 2007 07:36 AM (GMT)
Sorry, Benedictus. Forgot. Yes, Matthias and the squire. But the rest of you are all heartless, vampire-hating gits. Shame on you for your irrational prejudices. Just because they're inherently evil and prey on human beings, you persecute them for being different.
Goblit - if you want to talk to 'Ludo' again, 'Stiller' and he will still be sitting at their table.
Thragka - June 2, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
LordKjarl, I presume you're talking to Gregor in your post. Are you interjecting on purpose? Because I didn't think he was talking to Richter and Aerandir.
Just checking before I do anything else.
LordKjarl - June 2, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
Yes I'm doing it on purpose. And i know he wasn't but he isn't standing that far away and i presume Aerandir was able to hear him asking because he was listening at the two wizards talking.
Thragka - June 2, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
@ztech - June 3, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
That must really kill LONC to read the story without being able to intervene with his own character... I really hope Lothar enters soon. Being the only character I fought alongside with in another RPG, he's obviously my favorite.
LordChilipepa - June 4, 2007 09:10 AM (GMT)
Goblit: you still going to talk to Ludo?
Thragka - June 4, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
Okay, I haven't read enough of TSB to know exactly what the relationship between Jochen and Richter is, or for that matter including Aerandir. Could anyone just summarise what I should know?
Kael Anduar - June 4, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
Sorry guys but I'm going to be away for the next 10 days with very limited computer access. Fortunately this is the only time in the foreseeable future I'll have to be away from the game. Chili, you've had ample experience with Gregor, if you could autopilot him until I get back, I would be much obliged. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Goblit Skullhelm - June 4, 2007 01:33 PM (GMT)
Yeah, sorry, let me get to that now. Wasn't really sure how to approach it, if it was alright to just wade in. I'll go for it.
