Title: Explain your name !
Master Vampire - May 27, 2007 05:32 PM (GMT)
Here we post up what our username(s) means(mean) and what abbreviations your name(s) has(have).
Either way I chose this username because I actually sought a generic term for the Vampire Counts, and something that is high in power. Though, it isn't the name of my general.
I also go round with the name Quercia dei Eternita on some fora back when I was still collecting Wood Elves. When I lived in Italy 2 years back (2002-2005) I came up with an Italian 'Wood Elfy' name. I thought of tree, and looked it up in the dictionary. That's 'Quercia'. The other part, 'dei Eternita', means 'of Eternity'. So basically I'm a 'Tree of Eternity'. Hehe later I found out though that it should be 'Quercia della Eternita' or 'Querica dell' Eternita' in proper Italian.
I also got a few more names, like Rutiron Everblade. I frequent those accounts not much though, and I always found it to be a cool name. I'm also Mannfred von Carstein on Librarium Online and The High Elf Forum (only on there!!), because 'Master Vampire' was already taken, and that name was the first thing popping up in my mind as an username.
Abbreviations:
Master Vampire: MV
Quercia dei Eternita: Q (I later used that to put it under my posts with a '-' before it)
Rutiron Everblade: none
Mannfred von Carstein: none.
So what does your name mean? And what abbreviations?
Cheers,
-MV

I think I remember seeing you as Quercia del Eternia somewhere before, might have been Asrai.
Not much to tell about mine really, it's a name that's been floating around in my head since 2003-ish as a character concept I later dropped. I decided on it as a username just because I like how it sounds. I will go on record and state that it has absolutely nothing to do with the christian comicbook publishing company of the same name.
It's pretty much become my default name for Games-Workshop related sites (I use various others for differently-focussed forums) although I did change it here for a few months during an obsession with the anime series the Vision of Escaflowne. As you can see, I did get it changed back, since by then I was using it for other Warhammer sites and it just seemed odd having a different one here.
Thragka - May 27, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
I don't know exactly how I came up with the syllables "Thragka", but it's the name of my general as a Greenskin player. I came up with it either in 2003 or 2004 (I only know that it was that academic year) and since then it's been my username on pretty much every site I visit.
Wait until Burro answers this ... he'll tell you a funny story. Well, possibly funny. It depends upon your sense of humour and blood sugar level.
@ztech - May 27, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
I just thought it sounded cool to get an @ and the syllabe 'tech' (as in technology) in the same word. I also liked Aztecs at the time, because I was planning very seriously to collect Lizardmen (they're still one of my favorite armies).
Nice sig, Master Vampire. ;)
Dark Lord Jim - May 28, 2007 04:26 AM (GMT)
Mine dates back to the dark days when Owaria and myself frequented the GW forum community, and thought it was the nuts. I was a Chaos player at the time, under the monika Klayexraan, and decided that I was going to collect an army without Owaria knowing. Seemed like a good idea at the time, to be able to spring such a surprise on him. So I created Dark Lord Jim (abbreviated DLJ) to get advice on VC army lists and such. Ultimately my plan failed, as I got impatient and overconfident, revealing my plans too soon, taking to the field of battle with a partially completed army and getting my arse handed to me. Which, I guess, is kind of what being a Dark Lord is all about.
Cheers,
DLJ

Nice sig, Master Vampire.

Thanks. To be honest a member on our forum created it, Avaris (or rather his artistic sister), and it looks good because we're searching people who would like to play for the VC in the upcoming campaign (which doesn't have to be a VC army). So yeah, that's what that is all about. :P

Yep, I've been hanging on The Waystone, Battle Glade and Raining Glade for way too long hehe. Then Asrai.org came and I was a little active at the beginning, now the account is dead. I swapped the WE for VC

Let him come then, that Butter man.
LordChilipepa - May 28, 2007 09:18 AM (GMT)
In the back of the 5th edition Lizardman army book, there is a sample army list, written using a vaguely background-oriented system - the writer pretends he is a Slann Mage rebuilding a dormant Temple-City. The Mage's name is Chilipepa. I've always liked the old lizardmen with puns for names, so I went with that.
So far it's been abbreviated to "Chili", LCP and "Chill". Although I think Xarhain has the copyright on that last one.
Burro Boskov - May 28, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
I don't know why I was just refered to as the "The Butter Man", but will deal with it like a man and simply reply, Bone Head.
As for the name Burro Boskov, it all started back when Thragka got me started, oh, about 3.5 years ago now.
Thragka enjoyed making Special Characters up, and had invented quite a few. We had reached an agreement that we would each try one of our own out in a battle.
I was then faced with the daunting task of making up a Character, and my first idea, was cavalry. But what would a respectable dwarf ride into battle? Something that represents the stubborness and bulk eating capacity of the proud and noble race?
The answer was simple: A donkey.
And so with that, the donkey riding dwarf idea wedged itself into my mind. I never completed the concept of the special character, but the donkey and dwarf stuck in my mind and eventually merged together, as Burro - (Spanish (I have no idea why I chose that language, out of them all, probably for alliteration) for Donkey) and Boskov - (Don't know where it actually came from, sounded good I guess). Burro Boskov, my holds general, king, and champion rock bread eater, was born.
Some day, if I somehow finds the means or ways to do so, I may convert a dwarf lord to be riding a donkey (and count it as Shield Bearers) and fufill his name sake.
As for abreviations,
Burro.
I think that sums up my answer. I don't know if this was outrageously funny or anything, Thragka might be thinking of a different thing, or I may have just said it wrong.

Lord of Nonsensical Crap - May 28, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
Hehe, you should definitely make that conversion.
As for my username....I just thought it sounded cool. And accurate.

How ridiculous and strange.
Damn, he's onto us. Prepare plan AV7-G and hurry.
Thragka - May 28, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
Dwarf! Donkey! How is that not funny? No, that's what I was thinking of, I just think it's funny.

Genius, utter genius.
LordKjarl - May 28, 2007 05:43 PM (GMT)
'Kjarl' is a name I read once in the mortal chaos book, don't know exactly where... but is there. And well I always wanted to be called 'lord' so it became LordKjarl.
Now i use the name for my deamon prince in my slaanesh army.
Master Vampire - May 28, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
Burro I referred to 'Butter Man' because Burro = Butter in both Spanish and Italian ;) :P
Also, I got quite a lot of different answers than on Carpe Noctem (
check it out!!)Woa, very odd.
Keep 'em coming ladz.
Burro Boskov - May 29, 2007 12:50 PM (GMT)
After checking a language translator, it turned out Burro does mean butter in Italian, but not Spanish, where it does mean Donkey like in my story.

Tyrion - May 29, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
Well, beeing a long time hight elf player and didnt come up with any name I used Tyrions :P . Not very original, IŽll give you that, but you know... I go under the name of Gitsnick at the warpath forums, LordofUndeath on the VC forums, Gorash at the herdstone etc. :P
Swordsalot - May 29, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
Swordsalot.
Remarkably similar to an old John Cleese character.

Tyrion (the High Elf character) is far too perfect to be true: he's handsome, he's brave, he's charismatic, he fights for the good of his people... I've always thought he lacked a soul. In my opinion, Teclis is a much more interesting character.
Wilko - May 31, 2007 05:45 AM (GMT)
Well mine is actually an abbreviation of my last name, as I couldn't have been bothered with making up fluff for a cool username ^_^ nI wish I did though
Anyway Wilko is derived from Wilkinson, and is the nickname i am always being referred to by my friends -_-

So obviously nothing like the poster using his name. :P
Owaria was from my first DnD character, Owaria Kari Yuri, which was meant to mean death from above in Japanese (it sounded cool when I was 15!). Sadly something in the translation was muddled and it does not mean death, or anything else in Japanese. On the other hand it is a Jamacian slave name...
I've tried several names. Judge Black was one I used for aaaggggggeeeeesssssss. I have used many names but the only other one I can remember is Ultima Vindex (meant to mean Last Avenger in Latin) but that turned into me being called 'ultimate vindaloo' at a lan-gaming session. Guess how long that lasted?
Owaria
Luc_Arkhame - May 31, 2007 03:14 PM (GMT)
Luc Arkhame is the name of my army's general.
The name itself is simply a modified version of the name of the asylum from Batman, with a generic french name jammed onto the front.
Khrangar - May 31, 2007 10:21 PM (GMT)
Mine too is my general's name.
How I came up with the name exactly is lost in memory. It had something to do with my random configuration of letters that I found to my liking starting with Kragorael, to Kharngar, and then Khrangar.
Khrangar

LordChilipepa - June 3, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)
Yeah, 'cos anyone who's the accepted reincarnation of a mortal who ascended to godhood must be cool.
Or maybe, y'know, they're abominations that all too infrequently get stabbed by Skaven, and should have been eaten by Beastmen along with the rest of their village. Or blown up in a freak blacksmithing accident.
