Seriously, though, it's not surprising that few people have heard of the Cranberries, since most other Irish bands have been eclipsed by U2's fame. Which is a pity, because the Cranberries, Elvis Costello and the Pogues all easily outdo U2 in terms of sheer awesomeness.

You're right, U2 do tend to be known as "the" Irish band. Elvis Costello might have better publicity were it not for the racism controversy and the Pogues if MacGowan wasn't such an alcoholic. Then again, I don't know, maybe they'd be less popular.

Been a long time since I heard Zombie - thanks for the link. :)

He reffered to both James Brown and Ray Charles as ######s. This was ages ago, back in the 70s, and he was drunk at the time, but it still didn't help his career.
