Title: 1k Tomb Kings
Description: Preparing for the Nemesis Crown
Paymaster - April 10, 2007 11:01 AM (GMT)
Hey all,
I've decided to work on my tomb kings for the Nemesis crown campaign later this year, and I was wondering what you thought of my proposed 1000pt list.
Heroes
Tomb Prince with great weapon and light armour 106pts
Liche Priest with Hieratic Jar 140pts
Core
10 Skeleton Warriors with bows 80pts
10 Skeleton Warriors with bows 80pts
19 Skeleton Warriors with light armour, shields and full command 196pts
5 Skeleton Heavy Horsemen 80pts
Special
Tomb Scorpion 85pts
5 Carrion 120pts
Rare
Screaming Skull Catapult with Skulls of the Foe 110pts
What do you think?
By the way the Carrion are in a unit of 5 so they can fly over the enemy army and destroy them with the aid of the catapults.
Cheers

First off. You do realize that Tomb Kings really shine in 2000 + games right? So I question the Choice for a 1000 point list of TK for a campaign. But if you are dead set then heres my advice.
1. Cloak of Dunes is almost mandatory in my lists for my hierophant. It give it flying. Which = awesome for a unit you dont ever want to be combat.
2 Make your cc skeleton unit bigger. At least 25. Fear is what wins you fights not your combat ability.
3. I have never had good experiences with tomb king horses. You might but I personally loathe them.
4. Where are the chariots! They are single handly one of the most awesome things about tomb kings Chariot units.
5. Tomb scorpion is a must in all most all of my lists. Good choice might think about taking 2.
6 Carrion Im not too sure about I've only used them in one game. They are basically flying dwarf warriors with out armour and with only hw. with 2 wounds.

Could you suggest what I should drop for these suggestions.

I was considering putting the priest with one of the archer units for protection and moving him out behind them when the enemy gets too close.

I would if I had the points, besides, most of my opponents either use goblins or use units of less than 20.

I was considering using these as a counter charge, mostly to negate ranks but also for the extra s4 attacks.

Once again I don't have enough points.

Most people around where I play will complain enough about me using one scorpion, 2 is a bit over the top in 1k.

I don't really mind if they can't fight very well(I assume that's what you mean) as they're just going to be flying behind enemy units which will be shot at with the catapult. Thus destroying them in the crossfire.

I think you should take note on what he says about the whole scorpion thing there King Tut. *cough* :D
If they are only there for crossfire, then all you need is 3-4, since monsters unit strength is their starting wounds, and are they not two wounds each? Other wise you are just making a unit equally productive, for more points.
With said points, throw in those extra skeletons.
Try the horsemen for a few games, but paint some chariots anyway, as they will be important.

Carrion only have unit strength 1 because they're a flying unit. I'll see how the list goes with cavalry and chariots.

May i make a comment. On bowman Hitting on fives and then wounding on 4s or 5s is not really worth the points to me. Then again I almost never roll 5+s

I understand this point, but on average I pass almost as many saves with my guardsmen or dark eldar than most space marine players in my area. This may sound irrelevant, but its a 5+ compared to a 3+ which is what a few races are capable of with optimum conditions...
