Title: What's your best conversion?
LordKjarl - April 4, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
My Phantom Dwarf Lord carried on a shield would be my best conversion. It's the only model I'm really proud of. I'll post a picture tommorrow.
So, what's your best conversion?
Luc_Arkhame - April 4, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
I don't know what my best is, but here is one I have on hand:

Meet Samduin Carconde, my unmounted knight who has seen very few battles.
Constructed from the unholy melding of a Dark Elf Warrior, a KotR standard bearer and a raid of a nearby bits box, even he doesn't know what the hell he is. If you notice the missing sword handle, that is on purpose. It's currently buried in the torso of a dead beastman for some reason...
I have a couple others I might throw up if I can find them; a Boyar for a Kislev army that I've wanted to make for a while now, and a Tonberry I made as a familiar for Path to Glory.

That looks pretty good, Luc. ;) But though it may be one of your best conversions, it's not your best photograph.
I love his weapon.
What is he in game terms?

My favourite conversion of mine is my namesake, Khrangar. By no means the best pic of him, but I think you get the just of it.
Right most model

My Wyvern (no surprises there ;) )

(nice work there Krangar; Luc, your photos are letting you down but I like your idea)

Yeah, my webcam is pretty craptacular... one of these days I'll get my hands on a decent camera... one of these days...
*sigh*
...as for the character, he is a Paladin with the Questing Vow and the Virtue of Empathy. If ever he were to get a magic item, it would be the Ruby Goblet or the Tress of Isoulde; but on the few occasions he has seen the tabletop, he has done so mundanely.

I haven't done that many conversions, and the ones I have done have been very simple affairs.

Case in point: Inquisitor Bernadette Caledon of the Ordo Malleus, a very simple conversion involving the body of the Bertha Berstraufung Mordheim figure, the sword-arm of a Sister of Battle Seraphim, and a Space Marine's bolt pistol.

Hmm... his left hand and shield where gone, and couldn't find it (i blame my litle sister). So it's an improvised shield for the moment.

Luc, as far as i can see it looks really nice, i love the way his head is turned and how he hold his shield.
Khrangar, is the torso of a chaos warrior?
Burp, very nice.
Lord of Nonsensical Crap, It's indeed simple but it looks good.

Nice. I recognize King Alrik's Shieldbearers, but which Dwarf model did you use for the Lord?
Once I paint up my Canoness' new wings, I'll probably post her on this forum as well.
I also have a converted Lord and Haemoncolous from my Dark Eldar army (though they're both unpainted). I'll post them later once I get the chance.
Swordsalot - April 5, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
My favourite is Lauthekaur, an alter kindred wood elf transforming into a bear. It had it's (Very obvious) flaws, but on the whole the model worked. I won't post pictures cos I've posted them a few times before.
I'd be very interested in seeing better pictures of Luc's knight though: it looks like a good concept.
@ztech - April 5, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
As for me, I don't convert much. I managed to put a hawk (from the KotR sprue) on the hand of my damsel on foot, but it's not really extraordinary. The painting is tabletop-level.
I also managed to fit my Dark Eldar Archon on a Hellion skyboard, but I haven't painted it. I don't plan to, either: I no longer play 40K. My 40K army, still entirely unpainted, has been gathering dust for 2-3 years.
Khrangar - April 5, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
It's a 5th ed bloodletter champion body and legs. Mordheim warhound head, and some rending claws and mutation sprue bitz.

There is an dwarf warrior inside inside my lord somewhere.
