Title: ISSUE 5; update.

Burp Foulbreath - March 23, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
I had an email from Haktar today, and no surprises, he's lost interest in the Herald.

I looked through my files and have these

'Cardiff Carnage' tournament report, with photos, by me; - BURP
'Pain', a Battle Report with 'turn diagrams' by LUC
'Return to Stilmania' an essay about gaming by DARK LORD JIM
'Tanilorn' tournament report by LORD CHILIPEPPPA

I think this is enough to compile an issue (shame to waste them)

Anyway (I cant do anything for a couple of weeks) but I thought I'd volunteer myself as the Palace Herald editor. If that's all right with everyone, I'll create the magazine in a couple of weeks time.

I know we were running a caption contest (but I was passing on the entries to Hakter... well, they are lost.) Maybe I'll set up another.

If anyone else wants to throw something in, you have a couple of weeks to do so.

I'd say take those articles and run with it, Burp. If you give people some time to submit articles, we won't get anywhere. People will want to, get delayed, never doing it, etc, and it'll be time for the NEXT Tanelorn by the time this issue comes out!

Just publish it ASAP, and in the meantime any articles you get can go into the next one. I might even dredge up some wordsketches for flavour text-boxes in the next one.

Thats perfectly fine by me :).

Can I create the Herald in Microsoft Word or Publisher and then convert it into a PDF file, or do I have to create it all in PDF from the outset?

cheers

Yes: make it in word. There's plenty of programs out there that will convert a .doc to a .pdf. I have "PDFcreator": it fakes a printer so that when you click print it turns it into a .pdf instead. There's also a pdf converter at the official adobe website.

If you want, I (or one of the other technophiles around) can do it for you.

Ahh, thats cool. I'll just do it as a Word doc and then email it to you to convert; if you can do that, brilliant, I'll get it done in the next couple of days.

Burp!

I've got the whole issue put together (in Microsoft Word) ... 36 pages... Who can I email it to, who can turn it into a pdf file?... send me your email address..

Cheers

goblinpaladin[at]gmail.com : apparently I can do it on my girlfriend's laptop. Send also any instructions for graphic design (unless that's already been done in the Word document).

Only use me if no-one else volunteers- we're kinda busy. But,y'know, offer's there.

I'm still willing to do it. I'll PM you my email address (I suddenly have a great mistrust of posting email addresses).
