Aesgareth - October 19, 2003 05:10 AM (GMT)
Alright, as first heavyweight entry, I shall submit my namesake;
Aesgareth, Bloodthirster of Khorne (650 points)
M: 6 (20, flying)
WS: 10
BS: 0
S: 6 (7)
T: 6
W: 7
I: 10
A: 7 (8)
Ld: 9
Save: 4+
Ward: 5+ (against nonmagical damage only)
Weapon: Daemonic Attacks (count as magical attacks, cannot be negated by talisman of saphery)
Special Rules: Daemonic (Magical attacks, 5+ Ward Save against all nonmagical damage, Immune to psychology, Causes Fear, Instability), Causes Terror, Flying, Large Target, Armour of Khorne (4+ Armour save), Axe of Khorne (The daemon prince version; Killing blow, cannot be negated like a magical weapon), Might of Khorne (+1 Strength), Frenzy (+1 Attack until he loses a round of close combat, works despite being immune to psychology because that's just the way Khorne daemons are), Magic Resistance (2)
All of his gifts are included in his base cost, and DO NOT count as magical items for any reason whatsoever. However, because he is a daemon, his attacks are magical anyways (so they can hit ethereal creatures and ignore other daemons ward saves, etc.)
Summary of Effects: Magical attacks, causes terror, flying, Killing Blow, Magic Resistance (2), Immune to killing blow, Immune to psychology
Aesgareth - October 19, 2003 05:47 AM (GMT)
And if you are allowing people to join more than one division, here's a "lightweight":
Vrath Bloodhorn, Warlord of the Bloodhorn Clan (Banebeast, 95 points)
M: 4
WS: 6
BS: 3
S: 5
T: 4
W: 3
I: 6
A: 4 (5)
Ld: 9
Save: 2+
Ward: 4+
Lord of Khorne (Frenzy, +1 Dispel dice, +40 pts)
Equipment:
Spite: Though it must once have shone brightly, the steel blade of this axe has long since been blackened, first by fire and soot, then by the blood of countless fallen. It rages like a demon in the hands of it's wielder, and often, blows struck with it tear through armour, flesh and bone as easily as paper. Spite confers to Vrath the Killing Blow special ability, +25 points
Bloodied Embrace: An aptly named suit of armour, whose plates are as red as fresh blood, covers all but Vrath's hands and head. It's plates are ornately engraved, each bearing the face of an innocent sacrificed in the armour's making, whose blood was used to cool the molten steel instead of water. When foes approach the wearer, the mouth of each face opens and releases it's final, pitiful cry of death, causing even the strongest and most callous of foes to recoil in horror. This armour counts as Chaos armour (4+ Save, can be worn by spellcasters without conferring any penalties) In addition, foes in close combat with Vrath must re-roll any successful hits (the second result stands) +30 points
Shield of Eternal Flames: This shield, whose surface is stronger than any other, has been enchanted so that it's mirror-like surface constantly reflects a blazing pyre, the flickering and burning flames mesmerising and distracting the foe. The Shield of Eternal Flames confers a 5+ Armour save, and can be combined with other armour (even magical armour) as normal. +10 points
Horn of Kargash: This horn, which onced adorned the head of the mighty Beastlord Kargash, became saturated, as with all the rest of the powerful banebeast, with the chaotic energies of the Bloodthirster Aesgareth. Though this provides a powerful protection for Vrath, it also contains the less fortunate blessing of Aesgareth's scrutiny, and, along with it, the Daemon's utter contempt for cowardice of any form. The horn of Kargash grants a 4+ Ward save. If at any time the wielder is fleeing, they are turned into a chaos spawn, +30 points
Summary of effects: 5 WS7 S5 attacks with KB, enemies must re-roll any successful hits, 2+ save, 4+ ward, +1 Dispel dice from the mark of Khorne
Total Cost: 230 points
Vrath is a deadly warrior and skilled tactician, who once served as second in command of the Bloodhorn clan when his older brother Kargash ruled. Kargash was a powerful and ambitious lord, who, longing to gain a weapon to defeat all others, sought out the mighty blade of Eranieth, a weapon wielded by an elven hero during the first war of chaos, which was rumored to be the most powerful blade ever forged.
Kargash eventually discovered the blade, and realized too late that its power actually stemmed from the fact that it had been used to imprison the essence of the Bloodthirster Aesgareth. Aesgareth, seeking to escape the blade, took control of Kargash's mind, but found that the spells woven into the sword prevented escape by such a means, and in his ensuing fury, drove Kargash insane. The demented banebeast travelled across the land, slaying mindlessly to sate the daemon's unquenchable wrath, and, by pure hazard, stumbled upon the arena-city of rezephua. Though his deadly skill was massively augmented by Aesgareth's power, Kargash was eventually defeated by an elven warrior, and Aesgareth's essence escaped back to the realm of chaos, eventually managing to break free.
Meanwhile, Vrath took control of his brother's clan, but realized that his honor yet had a stain upon it that could not be borne; Kargash had failed to emerge victorious in the arena of Rezephua, so Vrath would have to do it for him.
Though the path was difficult and fraught with many setbacks (including many near brushes with death), Vrath eventually managed to win the arena contest. But as he savoured his triumph, Vrath realized that he had relished in the thrill of arena combat more than anything that he had ever experienced before. So he re-entered twice more, seeking worthy foes to defeat in battle. But twice more he emerged victorious. Bored, and desiring to discover a warrior of skill equal to his own, Vrath crossed over the great sea, returning to the old world, where he heard rumors that a great arena was being formed. Little did he know that Aesgareth, his tribe's patron god and his brother's former posessor, had entered the contest as well...
