Title: Bogenhafen Captain WIP
Description: needs a name too

Khrangar - January 7, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
Greetings,

It would seem that I've been quite busy with the coming of the new year, not only am I finishing one Empire Army, but I'm also potentially starting another one.

Because I have a Captain on foot left over from the Empire General box, I thought what better way to see if a test model than on the Captain.

Here he is, the as of yet unnamed Bogenhafen Captain.

Interesting so far. Empire characters can't take 2 hand weapons, though, can they?

It'll be covered by a shield, and he'll count as having a hand weapon and shield, should I decide to use the model. Right now he's just a test model.

I've done some more work on the Captain. I still need to paint his beard, eyes, and boots then he is more or less finished. Also need to paint the weapon shaft.

It looks good, although the mace does look as though it's out of proportion. It's practically as tall as the captain himself.

The same goes for pretty much all the weapons on the new Empire General sprue (have you seen the size of that sword? No way is it possible to lift that thing one-handed, although I will admit it is a very cool-looking sword).

Khrangar - January 9, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
The sword would look much better if used as a great weapon in 2 hands. The mace is in actual fact the same size as the captain.

Any suggestions for the colour of the boots, or should I leave them black? Also, what about the beard? I was thinking blonde/yellow but am open to suggestions as ell.

I would do the boots a worn-out brown, since it would give the impression that this guy has been campaigning a lot. As for the beard...problem is, I can't see a blonde-yellow beard contrasting well with a face as pale as your captain's. I say keep it brown.

He's done now, more or less.

I plan to remove the weapon arm and replae it with another one, possibly holding a sword as I have found use for the arm for my Witch Hunter General.

Good idea. I agree with Thragka: the mace is much too big, unless it is a great weapon (which does not seem to be the case).

The painting is well done. :thumb:
