I'm shocked at how much I struggled to make it to 1,000 pts (I have 2 treemen, but decided against it :D ). Therefore, this is more a collection of models I hope to have ready before sunday than a fully fledged list.
Lvl 2 Spellsinger, Calaingor's Staff - 150 pts
General, ok spellcaster, should wreak some havoc with 3 spells per turn on 4 dice.
Alter Noble, Helm of Hunt, Light armour, great weapon - 126 pts
Mainly to fill in the points and cos I like my model :D Having said that, he should be able to rip apart small units without much static CR.
10 Glade Guard 120 pts
10 Glade Guard 120 pts
Gotta have some archers :D Hope to use these guys to take off ranks from large units. Get within 15" and keep them moving backwards.
8 Dryads 96 pts
8 dryads 96 pts
6 wardancers 108 pts
My skirmish combat force. Will be used to gang units, hopefully able to do enough damage to prevent retaliation.
5 Glade Riders 120 pts
Well, absolutely crucial. The only unit I currently have that can negate ranks (aside from the Glade Guard). How I use this unit will decide the outcome of the battle, I'm sure of it.
1 Great Eagle 50 pts
Gotta have one of these buggers around. I'm sure I'll find a use for him.
986 pts (might add another dryad to fill points)
I never noticed my lack of rank-negators in the past. I've got 6 wild riders in assembly. I am aware this list has a huge weakness against ranks, but don't know how I can fix that with my current collection (except adding treemen).
Anyway, it will be my first game with the newest wood elves. Hopefully I can cobble together a plan once I see my opponents.
I think it looks pretty tidy really, for a 1000 points.
Makes me regret that I havent done much about my woodies; - have only a waywatcher lord and 12 dryads at the moment.
Swordalot, it would be really great to read a battle report; will you let us know what worked well and what didnt?
No armor save in the entire army exceeds 5+, and 75% of your army (based on points) has no armor save at all... It's dangerous, you know, especially when most of your troops have T3 and that nothing has more than T4.
Your small units will be manoeuverable, though. But your Glade Riders will most likely get shot to hell before they reach close combat, considering that there are only 5 of them.
Why don't you take the Noble as a general? He has more Ld.
The alter upgrade prevents him from being a general.
You've gotta have some more courage @ztech :P These are wood elves, I'm just grateful that my core assault force all has a ward save. As for T4, I think I'd have more T4 models than many armies of the same points, and very few would have much T5. I definitely agree about protecting the glade riders though. Perhaps have them behind a forest until needed.
And I'll be sure to post what worked, what didn't etc. Don't know about a full report, but I'll definitely say something. And don't worry, if anyone can get a big army together quickly, it's our favourite orcy player :D. Your typical goblin unit has the same number of models as this whole army. Get a Battalion box, that should bulk out your force quickly.
