I've been converting a box of glade riders into wild riders (will have pics when finished, I promise :D ), and those new horse heads are nearly as painful to attach as the old elf steeds.
Anyway, I've been trying to convert a stag. Most of the work is put into the head: attaching antlers, removing the mane and adding a layer of greenstuff (to cover the hacked up mane and to give him more bulk).
Anyway, while doing this the head snapped off. The tab is melted out of shape and completely useless, there is too much greenstuff on the bottom to get a good contact area. I have tried simply regluing it, but to no avail. I know superglue doesn't usually glue to other glues (or itself for that matter), and I have also tried using greenstuff as an adhesive (not strong enough before it sets, head simply falls off). I think the only way I can do anything is to clean up the neck: removing the mess of greenstuff and glue, flatten it, and reglue.
Is there any way I can do this without further damaging the model?
Sounds like a real mess.... ???
Try drill&pinning it then fill in the gaps with greenstuff. Sounds like you'll need to start again though... you know a horses body is quite different to that of a deer... sounds odd?
Yeah, it sounded like a good idea before I started: just add a couple of antlers. Then it looked odd so I decided to hack off the mane, then it needed bulking.
Now I'd just be grateful if it looked sort of good rather than perfect.
