Title: Dwarf Dispell
Description: where'd it go?

I got the new army box with the army book the other day to start my very own throng. I knew nothing of the previous dwarfs other then what I herd around the game shop, so I didnt know what to expect going to the book.
One thing however that did strike me is that no where in the army book (to my knowledge) does it say dwarfs get 4 dispell dice base instead of the usual two and I want to know if that is true do they really miss out on their 2 dispell dice that the rule book says that they get in the magic section?

If it's in the rulebook, it doesn't need to be re-stated in the army book. That would be like re-printing all the combat rules just because you happened to have troops with WS and S in your army book...

Yes, but they should still indicate it. I myself don't have the Warhammer rulebook, but I have the army books of the Bretonnians and the High Elves. I know the rules of Warhammer because my friends taught me, but they should still repeat in the army book when an army has special rules that nobody else has.

Dispel isn't a special rule, though. The mechanics of it work the same for all armies.
In the same place as it says that all other forces have 2, it says that the Dwarfs have 4. There's really no reason to do it any differently.

Ok so they do still have the 4 dispell base for army thats good to know, thank you guys for swift responses

I agree, rules like that really should be in the army books and not the main rules. For the same reasons, there's no reason Treeman / Dryads immunity to some life spells should be in the main rules.
The reasons are that they may wish to change the rule in a later army book release, and it is vague as to what a dwarf, treeman or dryad is. Would a chaos dwarf army get the dispel bonus for example? And why aren't treekin immune to the spell?

Did the old dwarf army book leave out the dispell rule entirly as well?

Chaos dwarves, dont have thier own rules, so hence this is not a problem, but if they did I am quite sure they wouldnt get it as they can cast magic, where as the normal dwarves can not.

So if the rule was spicificly stated in the original dwarf army book why is it not listed in the latest book?
Vriishnak the Twisted - December 20, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
It wasn't stated in the original book. You asked if it was left out there as well, and I said that it was.
