I would have liked to thrown some Furies in there, but I couldnt find points, and he doesnt have the models.

What do you guys think for my first stab at a chaos list?

Get rid of the lord (a waste of points generally, and even moreso on foot) and replace with an exhalted on foot. Personnally I think the exhalted is crap, but there you go. Uses up slots which could be better filled for far less points.

You've got no flexibilty in you units at all, bugger all magic defence really and no skirmishers. What would you do for example against woodies who hide in woods, or lizards who run around you?

My list that I've just taken to a recent tournament goes along the lines of-

Exhalted of slaanesh, on a horse with rending sword and enchated shield
exhalted on foot with gw and book of secrets
great bray, level 4 with a scroll, chaos armour and staff
bray, level 2 with 2 scrolls
5 chosen of slaanesh, rapt standard, FC
2 chariots
2* 16 herds
2* 5 dogs
5 centigor, shield
5 furies
giant

I have to agree, there is minimal fexibility in this list, and it is a very slow one as well.

You could say that the spawns and daemon help out, but spawns don't play a tremondous role in the game (granted they are damned useful, but thay don't win games), and your daemon couldn't take on a unit, yet he is too scary for the opponent to just ignore as an annoyance.

For me, Chaos need a role, although my army doesn't have one, it hasn't won a lot of games. ;) Mine is also based around the core of 2 units of warriors, chosen knights, spawn and marauders, but you need to expand from outside the core of chaos. You could have a fast army (like that rather nice one that flame is using), magical army, army with a lot of special troops, whatever, this isn't even including marks.

For starters, I would say that the characters need serious editing. Drop the daemon prince for either a sorceror with some scrolls or maybe a champion of some sort. I would also say to drop some stuff off the lord, a beserker sword and a great weapon, that isn't even legal to my recollection, and maybe even the crown of conquest, he's toughness 5, he'll be fine. :D

Troop wise, I say drop the chosen upgrade off the warriors, they just don't need it, they barely benefit from it anyway. With all this, there should be some room to get a heard perhaps, and maybe drop the marauders, 15 won't do much regardless of strength 5. Hounds and furies would be a wise investment, regardless wether or not your friend has them.

So, In summary, drop the daemon prince, marauders, the chosen upgrade and try and get as much of a herd, another character, furies and hounds :) , that should do it.
