Description: just wondering

As I looked through these subjects everywhere I look I cant help but see, "sample Stigori, Van Carstin, or Blood Dragons list. I understand that while they are popular and all very cool in their own way my disappointment cannot be hidden by the fact that, for the life of me (no pun intended). I can't seem to find a necharc sample list that has been posted recently. Nor have I been able to find any stratagy haveing to do with the bloodline in question.

So here is my question how do necharcs win, what is the necesitys of haveing a shambling horde army. Last what do you guys do to counter fear cuaseing units. Thanks for the help, (if any arives) and sorry for the newbish question but like I said I really havnt been able to find anything and want to know your opionion.

Necrarch, at least in my eyes, win almost purely through the magic phase (somewhat obviously, maybe). The way I'd go is a Necrarch Count (Lvl 3), 2 Lvl 2 Necromancers with appropriate magical equipment and a Wraith with the Cursed Book. The rest of the army would be made up of skeletons and zombies (anything that can be raised), with the obligatory wolves/ghouls/bats/banshees as auxillaries. The basic plan then would be to raise as many troops as possible behind and on the flanks of the main enemy units, using Vanhel's and Hellish Vigour to gain advantage in the combat phase. Simply swamp the enemy with troops and win through static combat resolution (i.e. no kills) and fear.

I started off as a Necrarch player, but found that too many tournament armies are able to cope with high levels of magic these days, which is why I made the switch to Strigoi.

Cheers,
DLJ

You're right, Necrarchs don't appear very popular on this board for some reason. Actually they're not very popular anywhere, due to their relatively vulnerable Vampires, and because Von Carsteins (not the Sylvanians) and Strigoi are the overwhelming bloodlines of choice for tourney. But nothing VC is truly bad, not even the Lahmians.

You do not have to play the Night of the Living Dead with Necrarchs. The nice thing about VC is that you can have a template list, and basically slot in any vampires and characters you want. You can even have template non-vampire characters, and slot in any Vampires you want. So you can do the Zombie horde, which needs you to do a lot of assembling and painting, and use a lot of long bases for the infantry. You can also do a list with the VC elites, and raise troops during the game.

But all this is just vague advice. I'll put up some sample Necrarch lists in a bit.

(I should be studying for exams, but I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Can't wait for the weekend to get here.) B)
