Hey there, i was wondering if anyone has fought the ogre kingdoms with thier armies? A friend of mine was telling me he was gonna charge me with his men and all about the lead belchurs.... sounds like a tough army. Could the elves stand up to that i mean if we get into melee combat thats probably bad eh? I was thinking id have a bunch of wardancers with the champion that can adapt to unit bonuses to fend of while the archers send in some volleys.. but as you can tell im in desperate need of help XD
Ogres will indeed be difficult to confront with Wood Elves, since Wood Elves are not very numerous and have no war machines or solid blocks of infantry. Few things in the Wood Elf army will be able to stand an Ogre charge, so you'll have to go for flyers and Glade Riders to stop their advance and wait for your Dryads, Treekin and Treemen to join the battle. Thinning off their numbers a bit with missile fire must be done before they get too close, so you'll need a few archers. Also force them to roll as many leadership tests as possible: with 7 Ld, they're bound to fail a few of them.
Yeah, ogres are everything wood elves despise.
I'd say go for heavy melee and magic: wild riders, treekin, treemen, dryads and maybe a handful of archers. Don't ever let them charge, and if they must, don't let it be from over their half charge range. They might outnumber you, but you should have more units. Just mess with them, put trees in really inconvenient places and keep moving them. Force him to isolate a unit, then pounce on it with your wild riders and whatever else is in range.
So just mess with him til he makes a mistake. Avoid combat unless you are confident you will win (and then put 3 units vs. his 1). Avoid leadbelchers (since AFAIK they ignore 'to hit' penalties).
Thanks for replying =D I will surely try out your suggestions. Also, any thoughts on which hero i should choose?
