Tyrion - November 12, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
ok, so heīs too lazy to register on this board himself so he asked me to post his list here for review :)
Noble: hail of doom arrow 105p
10 glade guard: 120p
10 glade guard: 120p
5 scouts 85p
5 scouts 85p
3 treekin 195p
1 treeman 285p
total: 995p
so, what do you guys think?
Gounfare - November 12, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
Where are the Dryads?Swap them for the treekin.
Tyrion - November 12, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
my brother wonders why dryads would be better?
Wilko - November 12, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
Well I would also drop the treeman for two units of dryads purely for the fact of the amount of attacks that you can get with the dryads.
The treeman even though is quite powerful in a 1k list, I dont really think it is the best option to go for, as in my opinion the treeman is reserved for battles of 2000 points and over.
I really do like the list, but I would still swap the treeman for dryads ^_^
Tyrion - November 13, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
but the treeman had awesome staying power though. many armies would have quite hard time to even touch him :thumb: but I will let him know your opinions.
Gounfare - November 13, 2005 09:14 AM (GMT)
The speed and attacks of the Dryads is better than the treemen
Tyrion - November 13, 2005 12:22 PM (GMT)
Iīll let him know, but he wont give up his beloved treeman easily, thatīs for sure :P
Xarhain - November 13, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
It's also pretty hard to get rid of 3 units of dryads, for the same amount of points.
The dryads would be a better choice. There does become a point when a treeman would be better than dryads, but generally that's only once you already have a few dryad units and are aiming to avoid reduncy (to many units with similar roles) and that generally only comes at high points levels.
If he is really set on the treeman, and I can understand why, drop a unit of glade guard, or of scouts. Or even both? Try and fit a unit or 2 of dryads in. This would also go with the tree spirit theme he kinda has going.
One last thing. Give the noble some equipment. Even if it's just a great weapon and some armour. Don't leave him bare, that's wasted potential once he's shot off the HoDA.

ok, thanks for the replies guys. my brother is aiming to test this list today so lets see how it does
Tyrion - November 23, 2005 01:27 PM (GMT)
ok, so my brother played against ogre kingdoms yesterday and totaly massacred him. 1300 VPS against 0. the treeman didnt see any close quarters fighting but used his very effective stragle root attack to kill off both characters. the shooting was pretty ineffective, but the treekin more than made up for is and totally butchered everything in close combat.
the ogres really have big problems facing an army like this. itīs like chasing shadows.
Xarhain - November 23, 2005 04:59 PM (GMT)
So, a unit of 3 treekin killed about 800pts of ogres pretty much single-handed? That's called luck my friend. Keep trying the army, don't judge it on one use.
Tyrion - November 23, 2005 05:22 PM (GMT)
yes, but if you get ogre bulls in the flank they are pretty much dead, overrun into the next unit and same thing there. he had 2 largish units of bulls, maybe not the greatest of ideas but still. but he will pit this army against dark elver and bretts/slayers :)
Treeman - November 25, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
I say replace half the shooting with dryads. Keep the Treeman. Those guys are well worth it.
Tyrion - November 25, 2005 02:21 PM (GMT)
shooting is a vital part of his strategy. this means that the enemy has to advance or be shot to pieces, when they do the treeman and treekin are there to welcome them :P
but this army could have a hard time against armies that could outshoot it.
