okay i played a game last night against a 1500pt tree army with 3 brancwraiths, lots of dryads, 4 of the ogre sized trees and a treeman. i got beaten to a pulp (i played with my lizards) so was curious is there any way to win against this army?
i know it may be a bit wierd posting here but i thought as you guys play as them you may be able to help me out  so any advise on how to bea this army would be greatly appreciated.....

You could go magic heavy: That army is unlikely to have too much magic defense, and magic attacks ignore their saves.

Treemen are flammable.
Really you caould use lots of small flanking things and break this army down by winning combat resolutions

that is true, armies like this will miss one thing and that is static CR. they have close to none. like said, magic would do the trick :)

Take the flaming sword with one of your saurii, he alone should be able to take out some of the bigger trees, or put him in a mobile unit and go right for the jugular.
Obviously try to just use combat resolution to your advantage when it comes to combat. There is no avoiding getting smacked around by monster armies like this, but if you can use resolution and charges to your advantage, you should be able to break them. Anytime you can get the +1 for a flank you are likely to have a flank, two ranks, outnumber and a banner. Thats +5 combat resolution before you even start swinging, so as long as you deal a wound and dont get massacred in return, they should flee from you.
Shooting (I would include Magic, but you only have access to Heavens, which isn't very good against this army) will do the most for you; Salamanders still have fire attacks right? Light up those treefolk. And even the mass of shots from the skinks can still get through, poison will come in handy if you can roll some 6's.

yeah good idea with the flaming sword, ill take it on my vet whos also got charm of the jag so is pretty hardy ^_^ .
im slightly confused where you said if i get a flank charge as the opponent is mainly skirmishers but hey.
i also use 3 salamnders every time i play as they are the best thing a lizardmen general can take, but surprisingly i looked in their entry in the book and their shooting attacks arent counted as flammanble??? which is strange, so i thought okay they spout flames so asked my opponent if i could count them as flammable as they dont say so but are basically flamethrowers with legs and scales, and i got told no i cant use them as flammable :o
thanks for the advise everone, i have looked at all of them and they seem like a big help, i just cant get round to replying to everyones post directly as i am really busy at the moment, thanks

Your opponent is being an ass, and is a disgrace to Wood Elves. Salamanders are counted as flaming attacks, it was in a lizard FAQ. I guess GW thought people would be mature enough to regard a "spout flame" attack as a flaming attack. Evidently not.. <_<
