Tombguard321 - September 14, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
It isn't usual seeing myself asking advice on any Fantasy army but due to my inactivity regarding 40k games I have heard the chill calls from Naggarth(sp) and have combined an army I would like to collect and use against the varied armies I go against.

Here is my list.

HighBorn - Heavy Armour, Sea Dragon Cloak, Draich of dark power, Heart-stone of Darkness, Dark Pegasus.
290

Heroes

Assassin, extra hand weapon, Touch of Doom
159

Sorceress, level 2, Darkstar cloak, Dispel Scroll, Dark Steed
187
Sorceress, Level 2, Seal of Ghrond, Dispel scroll, Dark Steed
192

Core

6 Dark Riders, Repeater Crossbows, Musician
151
6 Dark Riders, Repeater Crossbows, Musician
151
12 Dark Elves Warriors, Shields, Crossbows, Musicians
149
12 Dark Elves Warriors, Shields, Crossbows, Musicans
149
20 Dark Elves warriors, Spears, Shields, Full command
185

Special

16 Executioners, Full command, Standard of Slaughter
241
2 Cold one Chariots
190
12 Witch Elves, full command, Rune of Khaine
211
Rare

2 Repeater Crossbows
200

Would there be anything i could do to make this list better? If not what would be the best Deployment be disregarding Terrain at the moment as i get the basic idea when it is deployed.

Come on someone has to know some Dark Elf Advice also anyone got the D.net link?

Several parts of the army has changed, they are as follows.

Assassin - extra hand weapon, Manbane, Rune of Khaine

Both Sorceress have lost their Steeds.

Witch Elves number has been increased to 15.

The army now stands at 2492 points.

you want the druchii.net link? I don't know, I'm not sure if I should give it to you.. Palace loyalty and all...

type druchii.net into your web browser:lol:

The army itself looks very solid. I won't say boring, but I did notice when I looked through the list it was a very typical DE list. That's probably what you're going for, so it doesn't matter.

One thing I'd reconsider is the DP. Come on, if you're going to give a highborn a ride, it better be a monstrous mount ^_^ , otherwise you're just losing his leadership in the centre of the army.

Core stuff is good. If you need points for any adjustments/additions you can easily knock away a dark rider or 2 warriors off the DR and crossbow units respectively.

Last thing I'd consider swapping is the two repeater crossbows. Scrap them. Grab some Reaper bolthrowers instead. :P

My loyalty does lie with Warhammer Palace and i forgot to add i found the link at least 30 mins ago.

I agree that the army is very typical but do understand that I have only just started being just a lowly noble and all.

I have a few questions, First what is a Reaper bolt thrower, if you talking about the bolt throwers that is what is on my list.

Psst what's a DP?? Nevermind i know it's the pegasus.

Next soon i Will be adding a small unit of CoK and swapping the Crossbow units for a Hydra just to test them out. I will be playing two games on Sunday, one against Chaos and the other against the Lizardmen so any ideas would be great :thumb:

About the pegasus I am trying the mount first as i do have access to a Dragon, having the Malkieth model is very handy though am trying to stay away from it, as I am wanting to get to grips with the units.

Yeah, that was just a bad joke showing the irony of asking for the druchii.net link when you've practically spelt it out for yourself. Don't worry about it. ^_^

The Reaper bolthrower is the rare unit dark elf war machine. You had it on your list as repeater crossbows.. which is a different handheld arnament. I knew what you meant, but I had to go and try and make a joke out of it anyway. -_- I need some water.

In response to your pm, I don't actually do dark elves as you may or may not know, but I've played them quite a lot, and they're a lot like high elves so I'm told. You mention you're going up against a chaos and a lizardmen army. Firstly, I'd like us to sort out the army before I start on army specific tactics. Seeing as this army is for all-comers and won't be tailored for the matches, I see getting the army together a larger priority. (oh, and don't worry about being persistant. I know what it's like to post a list you really need help with and not have anyone reply. )

Let's assume we're dropping the dark pegasus? (If you wanna keep it just say and I'm sure we can work around it). The highborn can perhaps lead the warriors/executioners.

Now's the time to be losing the extras for a cheap unit of CoKs. A dark rider of each unit plus 2 crossbowmen of each unit, in addition to the dark pegasus points.. that should be around 150pts? Enough for 5 cold one knights, maybe a standard or a champion? Another option is grabbing a few more points by cutting the witch elves back to their original numbers and mounting your highborn on a manticore. You could even drop one of the dark rider or crossbow units and go all the way for a black dragon - seeing as you already have one. And besides, it's a dragon!

What do you think of those options? Did you have something else in mind, like the hydra? A hydra would probably work quite well in this type of army, having a static firebase around which to have a supported infantry/chariot advance. The problem is fitting in the hydra without compromising the aforementioned qualities of the army.

Whatever you go with, I'll try and give you some more help, unless somebody else decides to turn up and help. I'd assume you've posted it at d.net as well, so lemme know if you sort it all out and I won't have to bother with these massive posts anymore
