Last Saturday, I won my first vicotry with my Lizardmen. That is, if you can call a team battle a victory.
I had just finished playing a losing battle against Chaos (I've discovered that I like playing against Chaos more than against Orcs, since they don't outnumber me 2-1), when 2 more players showed up. We rolled randomly for teams, and I wound up playing alongside the Chaos guy.
The battle was a 2 on 2 battle at 2000 pts a side. Here were our lists:
The Unfluffy Chaos-Lizardmen Alliance:
Lizardmen:
Scar-Veteran Ara-kor- great weapon, light armour, shield, Glyph Necklace, Charm of the Jaguar Warrior, Blessed Spawnings of Quetzl & Sotek
Skink Priest Tlacepotl- level 2, 2 dispel scrolls
10 Skinks- javelins
10 Skinks- javelins
10 Skinks- blowpipes, Scouts
20 Saurus Warriors- full command, Blessed Spawning of Quetzl
4 Kroxigor
3 Terradons (actually Salamanders proxied as Terradons)
(I know this list is 5 points over the limit, but my fellow gamers were okay with that)
Chaos:
Exalted Daemon- Mark of Nurgle, level 2, Stream of Corruption
12 Chosen Warriors- Mark of Nurgle, full command, halberds, shields, Banner of Decay
5 Chosen Knights- Mark of Slaanesh, full command
The Good Alliance (from what I know):
Bretonnians:
Paladin- barded warhorse, lance, Virtue of Knightly Temper
Paladin- barded warhorse, battle standard, War Banner (I think), Virtue of Duty
Damsel- warhorse(?), level 2(?), Chalice of Malfleur
9 Knights Errant- full command, Errantry Banner
9 Knghts of the Realm- full command
20 Peasant Archers- skirmishers, flaming arrows (he was expecting Trolls)
High Elves:
Mage- level 2 (I don't know what else)
27 Spearmen- full command
20 Swordmasters- full command
10 Archers
2 Repeater Bolt Throwers
SPELLS:
Tlacepotl rolled badly and wound up withSecond Sign and Storm of Cronos; thew Daemon rolled Poxes and Plague; the Elf Mage rolled Curse of Arrow Attraction & Vaul's Unmaking; I forget what the Damsel rolled, though, but I don't remember her casting any spells anyway)
THE BATTLE:
The terrain was divided into two sides by a long house running along the middle. On the left side, one unit of Skinks, the Scouts, Terradons, Daemon and Chosen Knights faced off against both units of Knights and an RBT. On the right side, the Chosen Warriors, second Skink unit, Saurus (with Ara-kor), Kroxigor and Tlacepotl faced off against the Spearmen, Swordmasters, RBT, Elf Mage and Peasant Bowmen.
My memory of the battle is a bit sketchy. On the left side, the Scouts and Terradons moved in to take out the RBT, but a knight charge sent the Skinks running. They later rallied, but the nearby Terradons panicked and fled the battle: Over the course of the battle, the Knights would repeatedly charge both Skink units, who continued to draw them in and flee or take charges to draw them away from the Chaos units. Eventually, though, both units were ground down under horses hooves or spitted on lances. The Daemon Prince, meanwhile, flew around, vomiting on both Knight units. The Elf mage repeatedly cast Arrow Attraction on the big lug (the Chaos player insisted on dispelling with dice, even though I had two scrolls). The RBT, however, didin't do much damage to him. Eventually, one depleted unit of knights fled the battle, having been barfed on one time too many. The other, however, charged the Chosen Knights and killed some of them off. The Daemon charged inot the fray, but combat eventually saw the Chosen getting killed off and the Daemon dying to CR.
On the right side, meanwhile, the Skinks adequately screened the Chosen, Krox and Saurus, taking few missile casualties before getting charged by the Spearmen and getting run down. The Spearmen crashed into the Chosen and won the first round of combat, but the Chosen held on. Over the next few turns, the Chosen slaughtered their way through the Elves until they finally broke them and chased them down.
Ara-kor, meanwhile, moved to take out the Elf missile troops; after having a hail of arrows bounce off his tough skin, Ara-kor charged the archers on a nearby hill, eventually broke them, pursued into the RBT, and happily ripped the crew to shreds. The Swordmasters, meanwhile, charged the Kroxigor, and, over the course of two rounds, killed 2 for 6 losses, broke them (though they later rallied), and pursued into the Saurus. Both sides inflicted heavy losses on one another, but the Elves kept winning combat and lapped around.
Seeing his fellow Saurus in danger, Ara-kor charged the Swordmasters in the rear, but only killed 2 of them. Eventually, the Saurus broke, but Ara-kor held on for the last few turns (taking a wound in the process). In the last turn, the rallied Saurus charged back into the fray, won combat, and broke the Elves (who were promptly run down by Ara-kor). In the final turn, the last Bretonnian knights charged the Chosen, only to be beaten and sent running.
With that, it was a victory for the forces of Chaos and the Old Ones!
LESSONS LEARNED:
-Always keep your Terradons out of panic-distance from your Skinks (who are guarunteed to flee at the first opportunity)
-Even when I give my Saurus the spawning of Quetzl, I still can't make armour saves if my life depended on it.
And, a lesson learned from the previous game:
-There are many things you should flank or rear-charge with Terradons. Chaos Chariots aren't one of them.
Sounds fun. However, thou shouldst tell thy Chaos Player that, since he has a Daemonic general, he must select some core troops, i.e. Daemons. Under an Exalted Daemon general, Mortal troops are Special choices. This can be got around with the gift Master of Mortals, but I don't see that there...
I'll let him know next time. Not that the Exalted Daemon has been doing him much good: in the previous game, Ara-kor slaughtered it in a challenge (just before his unit got pulverized by Chosen Warriors). Go me!
At this rate, I just might win a game on my own sooner or later. Hopefully, that is.
Oh crap! I just looked back at my list, and noticed that I was 130 points over!
It looks like I'll owe the Bretonnian and High Elf players an apology and a fair game the next time I see them.
If the lists you've presented here are correct then the only player who you (and your ally) need to appologise to is the Bretonian player as he was the only one who's army was within the points limit. The chaos player's army was 31 points over the limit and was also ilegal (his general was daemonic and he had used Nurgle and Slaanesh marks even though his general wasn't undivded) and the high elf was at least 80 points over the limit.
I . . . see . . .
<_<
Darn those Elves . . . .

Ouch. I always knew that Chaos had an army based on the high quality of every single and expensive warrior, but I didn't know that it was THAT bad. Each of them has to kill a godly number of foes, as I see. And how much does an exalted daemon cost?
Sorry I appear to have made a miscalculation. The choas player was in fact 81 points over the limit (due to the warrior's magic banner which I didn't notice the first time). Also the High elf player may been slightly less over depending on whatever equipment his mage had (he'd still have been 67 points over even if his mage had no magic equipment).

Just a point:- terradons don't get flank/rear bonus of any kind as they are skirmishers.
What happened in that game? as far as I know the chariot gets 2 horse attacks and 2 chaos warrior attacks, VS 9 (or 10 if you have a brave) terradon attacks, unless they have a character in them. Plus you have outnumber, what went wrong? I'm curious ^_^
Here's what happened:
1. He flank charges, but cannot claim the CR bonus as he is only US3 (Skirmishers can still claim the bonus, just can't negate ranks). Terradons, surprisingly, do not count as Flying Cavalry and so are only US1 apiece.
2. He throws in his nine attacks...
Four and a half hits...
One and a half wounds...
0.75 wounds after saves. So one wound, tops.
3. The CW hack back.
Two attacks...
One and a third hits...
One and one ninth wounds, no saves. So they're pretty much certain to cause a wound.
CR is totted up
Chariot: 2 (wound + outnumber - chariots are US4).
Terradons: 0-1.
They haven't lost too badly, but they have lost... and they happen to be Ld5, so they collectively decide that they've left the gas on/forgotten to put the cat out/have to wash their hair and leg it. It is worth mentioning, however, that if the horses tried to attack, then the chaos chappie was diddling you again: chariot steeds can only attack to the front, due to the great smacking chunks of wood between them and anyone coming from the flank. It's in the rulebook.
