Title: Chariots
Description: are they worth it???

Hey,
I just started an infantry based chaos army and I was thinking of adding two chariots as flanking units (both on the same side). Are they worth getting??? Also, should I give them a mark??? So far my army (1000 pt core) looks something like this:

Aspiring champion -

16 chaos warriors - 2 HW, HA, Full CMD

16 chaos warriors - HW, SH, CA, Full CMD, Mk o N

20 chaos marauders - HW, SH, LA, Full CMD

Iīd say that in an infantry army they are a must and in every army they are really good and worth taking. so Iīd say get the chariots, there are far worse things to put points into :)

regarding marks, if you dont have any specific task in mind for your chariot, then Iīd say leave them out. chariots are expensive as it is.

Speaking in theory ( I have always longed for a chariot, in any army  ) I would say they were also along the lines of must have/extremely useful especially as in chaos they are core! So in theory you could have an entire army of chariots ( I have heard of such an army, a 2000pt-nine-chariot-Tzeentch-army-of ergghhh.. doom-yeh-doom)

Also, the great thing with chaos ones is the 3+ save which is unheard of in most armies, they make great flanking units, keeping parallel with the foot troops who are vacated in the centre and get a 14" charge arch when you're grand plan is activated on turn 2/3 and everything falls into place, oh, how I dream of the day I have a grand plan.

Anyway, ahem, in conclusion chariot+ infantry= good especially in twos so I hear. As for your army, expanding wise for 1k a sorceror wouldn't hurt for a little magic defense, otherwise a good force.

as was already said chariots do rock, but i warn you now do not foregt that they are 120pts each so be careful with them if you do decide to take them, i.e. do not place them opposite a cannon or some other gribbly that has high strength

As far as marks are concerned they generally do not need one unless you have a favoured army to a particular god, nurgles a great mark for a chariot, 6's to hit :D slannesh i wouldnt take IMO as i thought about it for my slannesh army but then realised that immunity to Psychology means that you cannot flee from a charge, which is one of the main purposes for chariots ^_^ along with all the drive by running overnuss

Yeah, I was thinking of giving the the Mark of Nurgle coz its only 15 extra points and that would give my chariots fear...against low leadership armies I guess that could prove to be quite handy but then again I probably wouldn't use them against armies that pack heavy firepower like dwarves or empire (bloody cannons) since they would probably get blown to bits before they had a chance of doing any real damage.

but do not forget that fear can work against even the best of troops as it is down to the luck of the dice roll, but i understand what you mean as generally gobbo armies have low leadership, not skaven who have leadership 8 or 9, but anyway back to the topic.

I find that chaos chariots are effective even when theirs only 1 as normally other army chariots are quite weak but chaos has slightly stronger chariots so with the charge of another unit aswell chariots can be devastating

dont chaos chariots have T5? thatīs like huge  a really good save to that makes them hard to kill against all but high strenght attacks.

nope, S7 is the bane of every chariot :ph43r: but they are a lot tougher than all other chariot, but expensive pointwise aswell.

which is why they are the only exception to the rule which many keep rambling on about of "you need to take chariots in pairs" but this only works if you just charge in the front, chariots also work in flank charges, if you can make it
