I'm building an army to be balanced and I would like your opinions and explain the reasons why would you decide not to use certain units.

First of all, what do you think about having 2 units of 20 gnoblars and how would you use them ?

If placing a hunter and sabertusk in an army, how would you use him or against what should he go against ?

When you play with your ogres, how do you them ?

Well not starting an ogre kingdoms army ( but i learned a lot of tactics and such when it first came out as i was planning to get my self into Ogre Kingdoms so I got some useful advice)

1. well gnoblers in general are cannon fodder and pretty much useless unless u play an army of many ranks and shooting then they are quite an average unit, its best to have 1 massive unit 30 + to help the ogres who have no ranks to boost them up there and outnumber too, mainly for combat resolution don't go for small units 20 - 25 as they will run away very quickly.

2. Well a hunter and his saber tooths are very useful for tank hunting ( saber tooths massive charge range ! ) and hunter is a very good flanker as he is tough as a nail and also very god at taking out small units of skirmishers and lightly armoured units , caution though its not good to put them in the middle of your battle line as they attract a lot of fire.

2. The normal set for 1000pt games is to have 2 units of ogre bulls minimum and to make them 3 - 4 man big as if u try to invest too much in them and thier ranks then they will be massive point sink and if they mess up then thats a big chunk of your army wasted ! so its good to keep them small , also very good for mobility.
Also a butcher can be very handy as gut magic comes with all those nice ogre pumping spells and the 2nd toughest spell casters in the game ! ( apart from the mighty Vampire counts YEA !!!)

hope i've helped :thumb:

I too do not collect the good ol' ogres but have seen a guy at my club play with on several occasions to great effect.

For gnoblars, he has a unit of 20 and just keeps them at the back for victory points (table quarters).

for sabretusks he puts them ahead of the hunter to take out war machines while the hunter takes out any meaty stuff such as monsters or heavy cavalry with his bolt thrower thingy.

Those are my advice on them anyway; sorry I am not an experienced player but those were my experiences watching them.
